日本でも人気を呼んだ「三国戦紀」の続編。舞台は同じく三国志の時代だが、ゲームシステムが全面的に見直されているのが特徴である。操作も同じだが、新たに各ステージに与えられる攻撃指示に従い、完了することで高い経験値とポイントが手に入り、隠しステージに進めたり特殊アイテムが手に入る「任務システム」や、各ステージのボスの降伏条件をクリアするとそのボスが使えるようになる「キャラクターチェンジ」システム、スーパーアタックに替わり登場した「超必殺技」、アイテムシステムなどに大幅な改良が加えられている。特に「超必殺技」はアイテム扱いとなり、使用するキャラクターのレベルに合ったものしか使うことが出来ないという注意点がある。前作同様インターネットランキングにも対応しており、一定コマンドを入力することでパスワードが表示される。

I love Diaochan / Chousen's character design in this game. She's fit, capable, sexy, and still manages to be incredibly feminine to boot. On top of this, she even has a sense of honour, becoming a sort of Chinese 'Robin Hood' ninja at the end of the game, taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Western developers would do well to take notice - on precisely how you create a strong, attractive, very likeable female character. (=^_^=)
