DON'T DO IT 😬 These cars, and the Northstars Are A Nightmare. I know, i have 2, and down to parting one, to get one good one, which still won't be good 😳 Or watch some videos. Even changing plugs, is a life changing event 😂 OR, valve cover gaskets. The rears like to leak. And it's a pretty common thing. But hey. You'll learn something about,.. I've said to much 😏 ... sure nice when they were new

I have a 2001 Deville I'm changing the head gasket myself because no shop in Atlanta would replace them.

Admittedly, I had a higher opinion of these Cadillacs before I started working with it, like you've seen, they're a pain to work on. The Northstar works great right up until it has head gasket issues and everything bolted to that engine has issues.

@@SnowFamilyRacing IMy husband& i have been going crazy trying to figure out what happened to our car. Whoever owned it before us took care of it obviously, & now,passed 3 years we have. Replaced many important parts past 7months. Spark plugs,coil pack,O2 sensor,MAF, secondary air injection, she's been having misfires, it was better but something still kept it from performing like it should. Took a trip 70 miles away & seems like it put itself in "limp mode",drove 14 mph, replaced secondary injector, it was thrashed, stalling- no codes given through OBD2, no check engine light either. Thought we were on the right track cause she was getting up to 35 mph. Next day it was chugging and then wouldn't start at all. Finally said multiple misfire. We watched 2 weeks of u tube videos, talked online w several mechanics, CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. dying to know what's wrong. Maybe it's the brain & she's 'TOAST', is there a way to find a Cadillac buyer or sell the air bags? Any advice? I hate to give up on this car. Thank you so much

The air ride parts are ridiculously expensive, there's a coil over Strut conversion that fixes that problem for much less money. I don't have a link for that one. As far as the other problems, try swapping the fuel pump relay. This one has had stalling issues and the fuel pump relay seems to be a failure point and leads to stalling or poor running issues. The AC Delco's seem to hold best. As for the rest of these gremlins, I can't say for certain where the issue lies. These cars have a lot of potential failure points that can take a lot of time to work through. Best bet would be to find someone who was a Caddy dealer tech from the time these were new.

Awesome your the first video ive seen that installed them and fired it up ,all the the other ones show them getting in ther but thats it probably cause it was not the fix and needed coils ,so a po386 says crank sencer ,,,,well see and thank you

Dude thanks a ton, i got a 2000 Cadillac Seville sts, and i had this issue pop up a long time ago and i ignored it and cleared the code, then recently i have been getting stalls when on idle. The code popped up again, so i bought the exact same parts from the exact same place as you it seems (Rock Auto). Gonna drive her up on the ramps on Sunday, block the wheels, do an oil change, and also get these sensors off. Did you end up using and swivel adapters on this? Also do you remember which size you used for the bolts? Deep sockets?

I believe that everything was 10 mm. I probably did most of it with a ratcheting box end wrench. I've found that when I do something like this I have a bit of everything that I think I may need handy and then still get up 7 times to get the 1 thing that I actually need. It's been a while since I recorded this and I don't remember all of what I had in my hands to do this job.

The 06to11 dts has issues with the relay melting the rear fuse box I think it's the in tank fuel filter u can't change causing pump to run hot

I've also replaced the fuel pump relay with mixed results on that 2000. It's like it was a contributor to the misfire code but I could never truly isolate it. The AC Delco's seemed to be the best ones to use.

What if you got he 2 upper and lower crank sensors replaced 3 times and they are still throwing the same code

There is likely other issues. You'll want to look at every connection between the sensors and the computer. If it's stalling intermittently, also check your fuel pump relay, they get weird with heat and age.

I thought the po385 was a camshaft sensor that goes up top below the coolant tank

@@SnowFamilyRacing looking at the parts online I see ACDelco sensors for $130 for the pair and on eBay there is a pair for $25 🤣. The massive price difference almost makes me want to say screw it and give the cheap ones a chance but what’s your opinion?

I had Standard Motor Products in there and I had to do job again (the one that made it on camera) after about 3 years. So a viable option would be ones that have a warranty. The high end Duralasts, Napa Gold, etc. If AC Delco is a cost effective option, I'm going to use AC's. If it's out of sight, use something else. If it were spak plugs, it's AC or NGK for me!

I believe this one is done for. Further investigation shows milky oil and a rattle from down deep. It's becoming a car that we would need to really want to save. To replace the car is in the $4000 range and it's looking like it would be around $6000 to fix. This one has the 4T80E drivers side bearing issue I've fixed and has constantly eaten through fuel pump relays and cam/crank sensors.
