I also have the smaw two door and put the manual lockers on. It's nice to always have 4wd when needed

the front shock is stock with a spacer in the top for the lift. the rear is a set of monroe sensitracs that are 2 inches longer than stock. they are for a mustang and bolt right up

i'd love to see more on how you did that engagement ring mod.
@MrSputnik198811 жыл бұрын
I will eventually make one. I didnt make one before cuz I didnt know how durable the mod would be. Since I bolted in the engagement ring on the carrier, I have had zero problems with the front diff. It works very well and I no longer have to worry about the air pump failing or one of the air lines being damaged... just lock in the hubs and go. I really would have liked to replce the carrier with one from an older geo, but the axle ends are smaller on them
@MrSputnik198811 жыл бұрын
yes, and you need 2 camber bolts on both steering knuckles to get the camber back to normal
@copedipper259 жыл бұрын
i have those on my stock tracker with no lift or spacers haha
@MrSputnik198811 жыл бұрын
I am currently doing a full rear axle rebuild, but when i finish, I will try to get one made. basically, I just cut out the stock muffler and welded in a glass pack that fit, I do not know the exhaust pipe size off hand. I then welded on an exhaust tip that flared out to 4 inch

Tell me more about the air pump that engages the front wheels. Im trying to tow my 2000 tracker and warn locking hubs says they dont work for front axle disconnect systems. Is that air pump device what they are talking about?
@MrSputnik19883 жыл бұрын
The lockouts work wether you have the air pump system or not. Even if you still have the factory 4x4 air pump system for the front diff, it is still recommended you install lock outs to keep your CV axles and differential from wearing out. When you shift to 4x4, the air pump kicks on to push 5lbs of air to the front diff. This basically engages the CV axles to the driveshaft. The CV axles are always turning with the wheels (stock system) and the front driveshaft only turns when the transfer case is put into 4x4.
@HomesteadOC3 жыл бұрын
@@MrSputnik1988 thanks for the quick reply, it makes total sense to me with that explanation. I just dont know why warn says theyre not for use with the air actuated system. Maybe redundancy, and they dont want people blaming them for their 4x4 not working?

You think 2 inch spacers for the wheels would be too much?
@KaiserVonKrieg5 жыл бұрын
and do you think 1 inch spacer is too little?
@MrSputnik19885 жыл бұрын
As long as they are good quality spacers and you torque the correctly, you shouldn't have many issues with a 2 inch spacer.. just know that your wheel bearing will have more wear on it.. your minimum wheel spacer width is determined by how long your lug studs are

Looks like mine back when I got it!! Lol I loved driving that thing! It was like driving a side by side to the construction site everyday! Lol I have a serious question tho....... it’s been sitting at my parents farm for a yr and I got in it to start it the other day and when I pressed the clutch in it was like somethings broke so the clutch just stays down and and I can just move it up and down like it’s not hooked up??? Please help I’m very sick with Lyme disease so haven’t been able to figure it out

came across your vid and am quite impressed. nice and functional and not over done. Question for you is, are you certain that you have 5.12 gears? Ive got a Grandvitara with the same style of drivetrain, and im looking for deeper gearing, as I have 4.88's factory. Ive found a few people that have used the drop outs from a sidekick sport, with a stick and it works, but id like to have the factory original style parts just for certainty of compatibility. thanks for your time, and help. very much appreciated

When you were looking into lockers, did you ever come across selective lockers for 2nd gen trackers? I'd like lockers but the tracker is my daily driver in the winter and I need it to be predictable. So a manual locker would be my preference.
@nikiyahaire25526 жыл бұрын
Specifically electric lockers. Cause like you said air pumps are a pain
@MrSputnik19886 жыл бұрын
+Nikiya Haire I have only come across 3 lockers for the 2nd gens; arb air lockers, lock rights, and mini spools. I would love to see a elocker be manufactured, cause that would be the cat's meow lol
@nikiyahaire25526 жыл бұрын
So with the air lockers it sounds like you said they engage with 4WD. Is there any way of having them completely independent? Or maybe engage only in 4lo? I live in Canada so I'm in 4hi for a good part of the winter and like I said I need that reliability. Pretty easy to be thrown sideways with the short wheelbase, although mine is a 4 door it's still pretty tiny lol

And ya I got my hopes up for an elocker cause I noticed they made one for Vitaras, but unfortunately only for 2005 and onward 👎🏼

I hate to keep bugging you but since the larger one was put on the front what I'd be able to put a 2 and a 1/2 on the back to compensate Or try to get a 2 1/2 inch taller Spring
@MrSputnik19886 жыл бұрын
This is prolly a little late, but first make sure the front is not lifted more than 2.5 inches from factory height. Any more than 2.5 inches up front will have accelerated wear on the ball joints, tie rods, and the CV axles won't last. As for the rear, you can go as high as you want as long as the pinion angle is good, the driveshaft slip yoke is not pulled out of the transfer case, and all your lines and cables reach
@TheMode5416 жыл бұрын
MrSputnik1988 well the front got the spacer that was supposed to be in the rear. So i believe its 2 inches.
