2000 Civic Trunk Leak Solved!!! (6th Gen EK)

I've been having the same problem in my 99 civic si. I just had the entire car painted, but I still need to address some issues with the trunk. Thanks for this video. I'll definitely have the body shop take a look at those seams.

It's not the seams trust me there's holes behind the bumper also that plug in the bottom sometimes let's water in

@@sneezinhatch Nope. It was the seams. I popped the trunk shortly after watching this video, and the seam on the right side was separating. I took it back to the body shop, had them sand and use the body glue on both sides, and repaint it. It hasn't leaked since. All good now!

Thank you for the vid :))) I had the same issue so: you have to use seam sealer I applied today from the roof to the trunk on my hatchback Yaris 2008 because it was coming water from the cracks as you mention but don’t use silicone on metal and I applied black silicone on the weatherstrip and tail lights seals and is perfect so far :))

Hi, there is a big round rubber grommet to drain the flood from the spare tyre at the bottom.

My money goes to that crack. I think that was your main cause of the amount of water. Would make sense seeing how much water you had in that compartment

this sorta helped but my main problem for my 98 honda accord is i get huge waterfalls from the left trunk lid. idk how water gets inside. everytime i open my trunk on a rainy day, water starts pourin from the hole where my bulbs are? any idea?

My trunk gets wet AF I know there has to be mold by now... the wetness makes my car smell especially during a hot day after rain

That's the worst! Before I fixed it, I would wait for a sunny day and leave all the doors and the trunk open to hopefully dry everything out. It sucked.

mine had mold on my clothes I had back there and everything was wet. so im definitely going to check for the cracks now.

Sunroof drain tube ?? I guess I should check mines....had no idea, it had one.

There's actually 4 on the sunroof two in front sides and two in the back Fronts run down your wheel wells and the back ones run out the sides behind the rear bumper On drivers side it's About a foot below where the gas tank fill neck is

Where did you get the new/replacement gaskets?

There is a guy on ebay that is selling aftermarket replacements. They're a bit thicker than OEM so i think that helps with creating a stronger seal. Hope that helps.

Does your car happen to have a sunroof? Sometimes the tubes from the sunroof harden and crack, or it just gets clogged.

Same happed to me on my wife’s Yaris 2008 HB and I had to removed the rear bumper to fix it and apply seam sealer because was crack

Check for cracked welds. I got 2001 civic and found some cracked welds in the roof near the a frame

Might have water in your trunk cause you don't have a cap on that water container in your trunk
