It's so weird to see the stands packed like that. It almost doesn't seem real. It's hard to believe that NASCAR was ever that popular. Hope it can get back to that one day.

Anyone arguing the racing today is the best it’s ever been is delusional. Back then they could stay right on each other’s bumpers, in their tire tracks, all the way around the track. And they did it without any gimmicky aero packages or horsepower restrictions.
@bduddy555552 жыл бұрын
NASCAR let teams take aero and suspension trickery to the absolute limits and never did anything because their leadership was asleep at the wheel (figuratively and eventually literally).

@@beastlydookie81at this point, the Gen 7 only really needs improvement on the short tracks. I wish the team were able to build the cars tho. The very strict rules makes it a tad less interesting. But the racing has been mostly good

The period from 2000 through 2002 featured the best looking race cars NASCAR ever had on the track. They were becoming so sleek looking, yet they had their own brand unique identity. Then 2003 came and the cars were all required to fit the same template. So essentially, they were all the same Franken-brand that was identical besides the headlight and tail light stickers. And it only went downhill from there.

Its so cool to see father and son race together like that. You know in the back of their minds that when it got to them racing like that it was just like a father and son Sunday drive. I feel for JR. He should have had many more years racing with and learning from his father. It is just a great feeling to get to see this again and remember a time when nothing else mattered except that moment on that day where it was just them doing what they loved.

It is a shame the father son duos don't last longer than they do in NASCAR. Richard and Lee was ended abruptly by Lees horrible Daytona crash. Dale and his father raced on dirt together a few times before Ralphs fatal heart attack. Imagine the races that could have been between those two. Now Kyle and Richard had quite a few years together however Richards prime was many years in the rearview mirror by then. Then Kyle and Adam never really had a chance to get going because of Adams fatal crash at New Hampshire. Bobby and Davey finished 1-2 at the Daytona 500 the very same year that Bobby almost lost his life at Pocono. Then you got the Earnhardt's. Dale Sr was second in the points in 2000 and if not for that fatal crash no one can talk me out of the notion that Dale Sr would have got number 8 in 2001. Can you just imagine some of those Talladega and Daytona races between Sr and Jr? Man ol man that would have been something else.

@bennybenito36472 жыл бұрын
Why was it bad?
@justinknust23952 жыл бұрын
@@bennybenito3647 They had a bad aero package that year at both Daytona races that led to virtually no passing and a lot of single file racing and it heavily benefited the Fords. Funnily enough the racing at Talladega was still amazing in the spring race in 2000 but by the fall race they changed the aero package to what they would use all of 2001. The fall race was Earnhardt's legendary come from behind win.

Even though Dale, Jr. Led the most laps, he’ll tell you that Jerry Nadeau had THE CAR to beat that night. If only it had rained more, but also if it wouldn’t for the engine failure, Nadeau would’ve either won or finish top5, that’s how good his car was, but we’ll never know the result other than his 38th place finish.
