South Carolina had ended their 21 game losing streak the week before, but they still had gone two years without a single SEC win. 18 straight conference losses, with their last being against Vanderbilt in 1997. This game was their first over Georgia in 1996 to snap that streak. This would also be Georgia’s fewest points that season.

I was at this game!!! The atmosphere in the student section was nothing short of electric the entire game, but even those mere words cannot capture the true mood. We were only one game removed from a 21-game losing streak. All of a sudden, we're on national television playing a hated rival ranked in the Top 10 who has an outside chance of playing for a national championship, with a quarterback who was a darkhorse candidate to win the Heisman Trophy. All that ended in one afternoon, when our defense picked him off five times. While I did not make it onto the field to help bring down the goalposts (I had tried that the week prior and nearly got crushed, and then some jerk bowled me over), we did have an impromptu pep rally on The Horseshoe, with part of the goalpost resting on the Maxcey Monument. And who was our guest of honor? None other than the President of USC, John Palms!!! What a day to be a Gamecock!!!

God Quincy was terrible. NFL caliber athleticism with a Pee Wee League brain. The problem with SC is they tend to play us like a rivalry game but we don't always bring the same juice against them, 2015 and 2018 notwithstanding.
