Hey there, thanks for educating me. I didn’t know this. I guess I’ve probably only seen the wrong kind of content. I was under the impression that i was talking about a community of adults that I have seen who sexualise child behaviour and clothing. But I didn’t know there’s a big difference and some find clarity in it and use it as a way to cope with trauma. I can see that my comment would’ve hurt you, and that If I don’t understand something, I shouldn’t be so quick to judge. Especially if it could be trauma related. This whole “fidget trend” is driving me crazy. As a neurodivergent teen I find it frustrating that people are treating *useful* tools like toys. Teachers now see my fidgets, which I need to help me focus and not have a meltdown, as toys, and they take them.

I know right! I tend to zone out in every session and can’t soak up any info (I don’t have any disorder tho) and fidgets help me stay focused so I don’t have to ask my friends every 2 seconds on what we’re supposed to do or what something means. But since they were such a big trend last year EVERYONE brought them to school, they wouldn’t use it to help them they would play with it, so my teacher banned them and that made it so hard, but luckily we had lockdown so I could use them

I gave my brother who had ADHD my strawberry pop it to see how he reacted. He took it and looked very concentrated while popping it. Just to let you know he is a teenager and this is the first time I’ve seen him this concentrated. Anyone with ADHD will appreciate fidgets as I recommend atleast buying one. ^^

I also have ADHD and unfortunately my school (which is kinder to year 12) has had a school wide band on pop its because the younger kids are using them as toys. This is really annoying because it means students with learning disabilities can’t use the tools that would help them.

Yeah I agree the only reason there good is because companies will make more other than that fidget trends are trash and because of the fidget spinner trend of 2017 my school banned all fidgets there for I could no longer use my fidgets making me have terrible meltdowns in class then the teachers strapped me on to my chair just because of fidget trends I hate them (and I’m home schooled now)

It's sad that people seem to solely place blame on the consumer, who, relative to the power of regulating bodies and major multi-billion dollar corporations, have absolutely no power over the environmental crisis. Even though the government could regulate this and companies could be more environmentally conscious, in the end it’s people continuing to buy the products that keep the companies making them

I grew up in the middle of the time it took for this to happen also known as late 2000's early 10's. I had toys that did absolutely nothing at the end but gave you skills doing them. For example, I loved building lego but either broke it or never played with it and who remmemers loom bands bc I made some detailed stuff with them that sat in a box gathering dust
