Glora Victis, the most exciting novice chaser i've ever seen at that age, what a career he could have had. Terrible tragedy, sad to watch.

A Gloria Victis, Best Mate rivalry could have been something very special from 2002-04. Such a shame this was taken away from us

Gloria Victus ran a mighty race for a novice considering he was continually jumping out to the right at his fences. No doubt in my mind that he would of been a multiple King George winner.

How AP was level 2 from home I’ll never know. That ride he gave Gloria Victus was incredible. The horse did all it could to jump to the right at every obstacle. Sad what happened, but what a ride.

I was in this racing , 20 years ago, looking for Sound like Trouble win, I didnt know this was such a sad day for horse racing..., horses and ridders pushed beyond what is normal and natural..,..

Glora Victis- SO SO UNLUCKY. Had he jumped straight- He would have WON by 10 lengths or more, I think he was losing many lengths by jumping to his right

I was there. Down at the gate, members area. We tried to stop Carol Pipe from galloping down to her stricken horse. That experience means I have stricken this race, from my memory. Not looked at again until today. No image in the film. of the broken leg. I have that image in my head. And Carol running down to him.

Looks Like Trouble became the first RSA Chase winner since Garrison Savannah in 1991 to land this prestigious race. Denman, Bobs Worth and most recently Lord Windermere followed suit.

Rider Richard Johnson would wait eighteen more years in this race with the gutsy Native River who was third previously in Sizing John's 2017 win.

I think A Gloria Victis was injured before jumping the second last, just before the little gravel pathway I think he damaged a leg
@gary19614 жыл бұрын
You may have a point there. I have watched the clip over and over. He is motoring around that last bend, then as soon as they've run over the sandy gravel path, his pace drops considerably. McCoy would have got slaughtered if he'd have pulled up before the fence, and to be fair to him, the horse didn't stumble or miss a stride or anything, but there may have been an injury to his foot while crossing the path which then just snapped on landing over the second last fence. Alas, we'll never know, and we'll never know if Gloria Victis would have gone on to win the race or any future Gold Cups.

@@gary1961 Horse looks fine before the 2nd last fence. If it was already injured, it would not have run like this. The motion is pretty solid. And the fall is characteristic for broken legs. Heavy front landing.

It's so sad that of the first six horses turning into the home straight three would be dead in a matter of weeks. As well as Gloria Victis dying here, both Strong Promise and Lake Kariba died at Aintree.

So sad. I always feel for the stable lads and lasses who look after those horses and get to know them on a personal level. They are the ones that feel it the most when we lose these horses.
@1Moodymare3 жыл бұрын
i remember seeing them lost at Aintree, Strong Promise had a horrible fall as I recall, wasnt the other a heart attack or something?
