I got inspired from your video on how to repair a faulty BMW E53 door handle. I’m not mechanically inclined and i had a rude awakening. It was a major pain in the ass. I’ll be haunted by this nightmare for the rest of my life. Although I made the Taiwan-made cheap part worked, the job took me 4 hours to complete. But I can say, the next time I do this, it’ll be half the time. Thanks, Nathan!

To make sure the alignment is correct on the reinstall, first use a magic marker and make several marks across the door and the part you are gluing back on and then match them up after you add the glue.

Great video! I have the same problems with the upper part of the door panel and the actual door handle! Can you give me a little more info on the type of 10mm screw you mentioned that can be used to secure the head of the door handle in that socket when the locking "ears" are stripped? Thanks!

I had to rebond the center section on the outside of the driver's door panel (where the armrest/door pull/inside door handle is) of my e36. I had really good luck using "Liquid Nails" construction adhesive on it. I don't think a bomb could blast it off after it sat up overnight! No sure if it is any cheaper than the 3M product, but it is lower odor and I'm thinking it would do well on a repair like this. Might be worth a price comparison and a try.

great vid as usual... I hate my e46 window regulators. I'm searching for a repair receipt from the dealer. I swear I've only opened that passenger window a few times under the last couple years...I'll probably have to pay again... just when everything is running perfectly... oops jinxed myself...

Upon drilling the door handle, how is the bolt attached to the handle? Epoxy?

If u live in warm climate ie florida .. that glue won’t stay non epoxy will work so I fastened them in with little screws

Nathan your videos have helped me a lot, but I'm in a jam with my E39 rear door that is shut with interior/exterior handles not working. How can I remove the panel, or get the door open with it closed? Please help!

Hedonist Hobbyist usually that is a problem with the gm5 module, if there are other functions that don't work you might have to replace it, you can get one off eBay for around $30 but the part number has to match yours , that controls the door locks and seats etc, also there are fuses under the carpet in the passenger footwelll that get wet and cause issues

Nathan's DIY Garage So how do I remove the door panel with the door not being able to open from inside or out? That's my issue. I can find and order parts etc... but they will be of no use without gaining access to replace them.

fix the door handle? mine always break on the other end. ive replaced at least a dozen. along with every other part on my bmw piece of shit. german engineering? who ever builds this shit is pathetic. almost every single day theres a problem
