Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air And deep beneath the rolling waves in labyrinths of coral caves The echo of a distant time comes willowing across the sand And everything is green and submarine And no one showed us to the land And no one knows the where's or why's But something stirs and something tries Starts to climb towards the light Strangers passing in the street By chance two separate glances meet And I am you and what I see is me And do I take you by the hand And lead you through the land And help me understand the best I can? And no one calls us to move on And no one forces down our eyes No one speaks and no one tries No one flies around the sun Cloudless every day you fall Upon my waking eyes Inviting and inciting me to rise And through the window in the wall Come streaming in on sunlight wings A million bright ambassadors of morning And no one sings me lullabies And no one makes me close my eyes So I throw the windows wide And call to you across the sky

Pink Floyd’s music was really unique and unrivaled, that’s why. I certainly felt sad, nostalgic, and melancholic when I see this sequence with “Echoes” playing; without it, the movie was just emotionless and detached. Pink Floyd evokes raw emotions while Stanley Kubrick didn’t.

Having done this manually myself on VHS and CD, I know exactly the sync points to look for which illustrate good sync/bad sync. This is the best sync I've seen on KZbin. The rest are really poorly done. If coming out of the tunnel into the spiral arms going into the bass-heavy groove, and the eye blinks against the guitar squeaks don't sync, it's a non-starter. This matches both points better than anyone's.

I agree that this is the best sync of all the other "2001 pink floyd" videos on KZbin. The way I tell is that the proper place for the monolith visions (AKA the Special FX) to begin is after the vocals end on the second verse around the five minute mark. That way the long instrumental section takes up the entirety inside the monolith and the vocals begin again when Dave turns around and crosses the threshhold @ 19:11. Also, as someone else mentioned, all the blinks are on beat. All time marks achieved! This is really spot on, friend! Good on ya! really appreciate your attention to detail.

This and the Dawn of Man scene having originally been scored would be fun to have a re-edited version of the film with. There also is a Dawn of Man with Ummagumma sync up. It possibly is a perfect movie, but this would be a cool alternate version. This song also fits well with the story. It's about the evolution of humans, and the song is about the beginnings in the ocean.

How many toilets appear in 2001: A Space Odyssey? Two. Once during Dr. Floyd's trip to the Moon after eating from the suckable food tray he is seen carefully reading the instructions for the zero gravity toilet and then again during this scene. At the 16:45 mark there is clearly a toilet with a cloth cover lid and even a button on the wall to initiate the flush cycle.
@hexenh4 жыл бұрын
I believe those arent unnecessary details, it fits with the themes of evolution of 2001 In space humans are learning to "live" all over again, for example the stewardess struggling to walk on the spaceship, like a baby learning to walk and Dr Floyd even having to learn how to crap and eat in space. Basically the entire space station/moon section is showing how humans are starting to learn to "live" again and adapt in space And when Dave is about to enter the next step of evolution, the toilet appears again, probably signifying Dave will have to learn to "live" all over again in his new "ascended" form I'm probably wrong and overanalyzing because to be honest its really fucking absurd but I saw an interesting connection there.

I am in my early forties and lreally dug the fact that my Pops was blown away when he saw this film in a theater back in 1968. He also really dug the 1972 version Solaris which I have not yet seen although the 2002 version is pretty decent to me starring George Clooney as the main character. Lastly if I may be so humble as to suggest playing Echoes at a well mixed volume setting along with the film's standard audio track is quite satisfying.

In reality it was Kubrick who said no to Pink Floyd, but when Atom Heart Mother came out he called them back because he wanted to use it for A Clockwork Orange, and Waters out of revenge said no.Meddle and therefore Echoes came out only after Atom Heart Mother, but at the time of 2001 Pink Floyd were still a psychedelic band, the "prog" turning point only came with Atom Heart Mother. AND It's unlikely that at the time of 2001 they had already refined their "prog" sound while releasing psychedelic records, which suggests that this Sync is nothing more than a giant coincidence
