2001 E250 EGR Valve Location

Quick video showing where the EGR valve and the EGR solenoid/sensor is on my 2001 E250 with a 4.2L V6.
Both of these items are not too difficult to replace, but they are a bit pricey. The cost of both items was probably around $100.
These parts were changed to try and fix code P0401, which is "EGR Insufficient flow". It could be caused by the two parts in question, a vacuum leak somewhere, a bad PCV valve or the worst being a clogged intake manifold.

Yes, it ended up being a clogged intake manifold. All of the EGR ports were 100% plugged, the whole manifold had to be removed and cleaned. It ended up being about a $1300 job.

@@GGigabiteM thank you for the video I have a 99 f350 that plan to do a egr delete thinking it might be plugged such a stupid idea to rerun dirty exhaust back into the throttle body

@@jj-eo7bj Your truck doesn't have the same engine as my van. I have the 4.2L V6, the F-350 has a 5.4 V8, 6.8L V10 or various Diesel engines. I don't recommend removing EGR from a gas engine unless you can reprogram the ECU. Not having the EGR alters the stoichiometry of the fuel mixture and WILL cause run issues. with the EGR plugged on my 4.6L, it caused all sorts of engine run issues because the ECU was expecting a certain amount of EGR to return to the engine that wasn't there. My 1988 Dakota also has EGR and was the first model with electronically controlled TBI. It has fits if the EGR isn't working properly. EGR on a diesel is an entirely different story, yes it is worth it to remove it in some cases. A bad EGR system can destroy the engine.
