The lovely sound of my Cougar's 2.5l V6. All standard spec. I no longer own this car, and I believe she's been off the road since 2013.

Hi, it's all stock (for now!) - 2001 Cougar 2.5 V6 with full X-pack (leather interior, full electric pack, CD changer, etc) 'Real life' fuel consumption is 20-30mpg depending on environment. She has 56,000 miles on the clock (low for a Cougar) and set me back a little under £4000 at the start of the year.

@TheChiraagG I sadly no longer have her - sold about a year and a half ago. I drive past her every day on my way to work, and have always regretted selling - until I bought an MX-5 last month :)

Thanks - only had mine a couple of weeks and still grinning like an idiot! Mine is standard spec - yours should sound the same ;)

The V6 is the only option... You have to bear in mind that this isn't meant to compete with the small, nippy GTi's in terms of handling - it's more of a luxury GT car. Remember, it's built on the Mondeo chassis and weighs about the same - that said, she'll still do 0-60 in 8.5 seconds and is easily the smoothest car I've driven. The *only* downside for me is how thirsty the car is... expect 20mpg max around town and little over 30 on open road.

I'm looking at a nice used Mercury Cougar, and do they sound like the European Ford Cougars? And how's your car in terms of reliability? I've heard about them having alternator/electrical problems.

I can only see that being a problem if you hang around in Tesco car parks...
