This is my car, although mine is silver and an 02. Also has the 17 in. 5-spoke AMG rims, look better on the car than these twin 6 spoke rims. Also mine is fully loaded with the GPS, premium audio system, telephone and all the other goodies from this year. Also mine has the traditional stock grill without that horrible, tacky, aftermarket badge in the middle- instead it has the very classy hood ornament. Best car I've ever owned, reliable, fast, well featured, quick in the corners, and a timeless design. AMG for life!

It's the little things on this AMG that will catch you out and accumulate. The engine is bulletproof but the transmission can fail because of a cheap o-ring weeping into the wiring harness. For example, the drivers mirror is two thousand dollars in Australia, front brake pads are $800 genuine. Break one of the switches on the aircon control in the dash, another two thousand to replace. The recommended engine oil is $100.00 per five litres even if you go aftermarket (top spec Mobil 1).

PequlaTV BMWs are unreliable. Have tons of issues, especially their V8s and anything that is turbocharged from the mid 2000s. I wouldn’t trust a BMW. Owned a 330ci the only decent car they ever made. Also Beamer owners are dreamers who think a 1995 M3 is worth $15k with 180k km. Lmao Modern Mercedes look whack. The E series cars now look like Honda Accords, their C classes look now like cockroaches. Also engine wise they are doing away with V6s in favor for small i4 turbos.
@pequlatv48143 жыл бұрын
@@MidNiteR32 I am still tallking about some other markets, not the USA, in most of the east eruope you pay registration tax based on cc, benz always had engines over 2 and over 3 but only one under 2 (1.8) i like the sporty design, but sadly the price is the main factor, in my family we drove and repared benzes since 60s and i own the original diagnosis for it. what i am telling you is that evey car is unreliable at that age If there was no Xentry in my possetion i would have never chosen this much old of a car, heck i own a w211 220cdi om646 too from 2002, i got it for 1000EUR bc of many electrical issues, at first i wanted to part out the interiror and the engine since those were good shape, but then it came to my mind to investigate. turns out only thing that idots forgot to do is to code the alternator. and boom the car is working fine. i even chosen to dissasemble the dashboard to fix the broken air prehating module how good the car runs and works But on the other hand the clk only had a thermostat changed and that is it (if you dont count in the rust repairs that were done huh) Point beeing if you have the tools and knowlage of the car drive that car Drive whatever you like, you should never bee a byist for the brand Its just that for ~2000EUR i can get what, a peugeot 206 or a fiat punto. Or a high class mercedes Going back to those ccs, after the 2.2cdi going down to 2l now i see more benzes floating arround in my city, and a lot more, bmws are trash i must agree, except there inline 6 engines After all every car is trash if it was not serviced regularly

Did you get one in the end? How'd you like it?
@ExpanderDJ2 жыл бұрын
@@Onidax Hey what's up. It's me - the original poster. Funny how you commented on my almost 8 year old comment :D During that time I've had the car for the whole 7 years and I absolutely loved it. The engine had 180.000 km when it arrived and during my time with it I brought it to almost 260.000, so not too much, you know, just daily city commuting and some longer drives during the weekends. It was a manual transmission, and all the mechanical parts of the car worked like clockwork, especially the engine - it's a true engineering marvel - no oil leaks, fuel consumption is reasonable, everything just works. The whistle of the supercharger is something else - I really miss it now. The only problems I've had with the car was electronical concerning lights - my fog lights were constantly burning out at a fast rate, and the after marked DEPO Black Xenon mod lamps were not too bright, even with the best Osram lights. The biggest problem was the rust on all Mercedes' from this era - at one point it was getting out of hand. I had to replace two front fenders (was lucky to get an exact color match for both), and do a full bodywork repair on rear fenders, the boot, and the whole underside. But at one point I was like "aaah screw it" and was just repainting the most problematic spots with a color matched (ordered) spray can. Not the perfect solution, but it worked for me. I was lucky to sell it to a Benz enthusiast who revived the car and is driving it happily to this day - I see it zooming around the city as if I was at the wheel. Now I got myself a W209 CLK320 2006. The rust problems are gone, and the bi-xenon's are shining bright as ever. But it has it's own problems - still gotta fix the oil measuring mechanism inside the oil tank, and the xenon sprinklers are perma-stuck. Otherwise it's practically the same car, but a bit more modern. Not as great looking though, so I had to put some 18" Vossens to help it out, and am also looking for an AMG bumper come spring. So yeah, a great car, can't recommend it enough! (if you've got ways to deal with rust problems)

I'd be looking into the service history too but most of those issues are purely cosmetic and come with 10+ years of use. I'd be more keen to focus on the engine/trans as well as the suspension because if those components are screwed then so is the next owner lol. If this car stickers for about 10 grand then I wouldn't mind putting in 2 grand worth of work into the car.

very nice Mercedes, and with this being an AMG, it definitely wasn't cheap new! it is a true enthusiast's car, and people who spend as much as they do on a car like this WILL take care of it and would be infuriated if they got scratched or dented (I know I would!!). It still looks incredible after 10 years, and judging by the looks and performance of it, its a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Unfortunately there was one sitting in my driveway for over 10 years not moving. It sat through all 4 seasons for 10 years and it wasn’t until the 10 year that the paint started to chip, but the moment it did it got progressively worse very fast, because of that we finally put it in the shop to be restored. The CLK 55 AMG sat there for 10 years but started up immediately after jumping the battery.
