Just pulled the same motor out of a 01 frontier, he definitely had the right idea of pulling the front diff. I didn't it was a pain to pull it out you can do it but just remove the diff and make it easier cuz of the oil pan is in the way

Swapping the engine on my 2000 XTerra... This video was very helpful, thanks! I would have liked to see more info on how you got the intake manifold out and back in. I found it very difficult to remove. Also, where did you attach that chain to for lifting the engine? Was it the power steering mount and the bracket in the back?

I have an 04 with 350k on it. The engine runs great however it has oil oozing into the radiator. I am going to replace the engine as soon as it arrives via ebay. I noticed they are taking off the intake and distributor, is that necessary? I did an 01 with the 2.4 and simply hooked it up and pulled it out with everything attached (alternator etc). Just curious....

I have a nissan xterra 03 2.4l and I have the idea of changing the engine to a 3.3l 6 cylinder, my question is, will it be possible to replace the 4 cylinder engine with a 6 cylinder one?

Hi guys.. mine is also start knoking 2 days ago on the passanger side,, i can't tell if it's piston slap or any lifter issue.. would you tell me and help me what should i check and how.. . i'm a good hobby mechanic but i never heard anything like that before. 99% sure it is not coming from the mainshaft... thank you

What was the noise on first startup? I just replaced 2003 with a 2001 and have a very similar sound in the right side. I replaced lifters and rockers from other engine and it made no change.

Was that $2000+ including the purchase of the engine? RR around me on the same engine is between $800-1200 @$65 an hour shop rate at the small local shops.

The water pump on my 2001 Xterra is starting to go bad I already have a replacement engine for it in good condition would you recommend I fix the pump instead of going through the whole process of taking the engine out and putting in the replacement engine? Thank you in advanced for the suggestion.
@carguyfastorslow65505 жыл бұрын
Water pump is easier than removing an engine

I have a 2001 Nissan Xterra. My engine went out recently. I don't have a job to finance or buy another car. I'm using my savings to purchase a used 2002 Nissan Xterra Engine. Do you have any suggestions? Do I have to get new spark plugs, etc..
@octaneautotips57999 жыл бұрын
meningees Before installing the replacement engine, I would recommend that you give it a thorough once over...check the spark plugs, gaskets, bolt ons, etc. It is always easier to work on an engine that is out of a car, as opposed to in the car.

Cost Effective: You guys seem to have done a great job of the engine swap as expected. However, I wonder if this was cost effective for the owner. 270k miles and 12 yrs. I wonder if the owner would have been better off by just selling vehicle.
@octaneautotips57999 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you and advised our client that the cost of replacing the engine exceeded the overall value of the vehicle, though they decided to replace the engine anyway. I'm not sure why some people choose to put more money into their vehicle than it's worth, my best guess is that they do not want to deal with the hassle of selling a car with considerable problems, purchasing a used car that could potentially have problems, or financing a new car that will come with a car payment. We always take the time to not only explain to our clients what issues their vehicle has, but also to weigh the cost of repair to the value of the vehicle. Some people choose to simply get rid of their vehicle, others, for whatever reason, choose to invest the money into repairing their car. C'est la vie I suppose.

Blue book value around $1,500 for that year and that many miles on it...he sank nearly $3,000 or more (probably new cat and other wear and tear items)) for that Xterra .. Wow! I don't get it...I have a 2000 Xterra and if my HG blows, It's trade in time for a new X.... and whatever $ I can get for it!
@traevaughan14817 жыл бұрын
some people don't have the ability to purchase a new car lol. Credit reasons or the monthly payment reasons...He spent 3 grand but has a vehicle that will last another 10 years.
@GreatPacNorthwest7 жыл бұрын
10 more years? Doubt it. He'll be sinking thousands more $$ into it in the near future. Not financially smart. With nearly 300K miles on it his troubles are just beginning on that vehicle. Better to take that hard earned money and buy another used Xterra with much lower mileage on it...there are plenty of them out there.
@franciscoorengo51006 жыл бұрын
I agree 100 %. He could have bought a used one for a young 1,800. And just worked on the old one. Or sold parts of the old xterra. He would have made some back.
