Sorry, no such thing as an '01 T100, it was just called the Bonneville. First model year for the T100 was '02, and it was originally planned as a one-year-only variant for Triumph's centenary (I own one). The T100 has a tach and different paint scheme (and chromed case covers in '02) but otherwise it's the same as the regular Bonnie (which is what's in this video).

Tacho was an option over here, and available as a retro-fit accessory. This one is also a 2001! Cracking bike, isn't it? 🙂

Good video. Watching those keys bang about made me laugh. I am thinking to relocate the key switch on my T100

Thank you! Yes, that feature is reminiscent of the initial Bonneville. Funny how Triumph was adamant on keeping it that way.

Another great video.Your remarks about the differences between the Hinckley Bonnie and the Meriden one are spot on. You have to be prepared to get your hands dirty with the T140 and be constantly looking for faults, loose bolts etc. I have an 05 T100 and a 1980 T140 and would take the T100 anywhere at the drop of a hat. I'm still finding the extent of the T140 as it's still in shakedown after being restored from sitting in a field for 20 years. Putting my pedant hat on, the T100 would have both rev counter AND speedometer as standard plus a different crankshaft throw. I don't think they introduced it until a couple of years after your test model. Re stanchion pronunciation. I don't know how they spell it or pronounce it in Flemish, but in English it's pronounced with a soft ch as church. So "stanch(sh)ion". Cheers, keep up the good work.

Loved the video. Picking up my 2001 t100 this weekend. Can't wait. Its my first bike over 125cc. I have always been in love with the cafe racer style and wanted something where i can properly learn how to modify and do repairs beyond just changing a filter. Looking forward to working on it so much.

Congrats on your acquisition! You are going to love it! If you haven't already, it is worth investing in the Haynes manual, which describes ever so clearly each and every step regarding maintenance, overhaul, and general care for your bike.

@@gmcevoy Thank you! Just drove it home yesterday. 4 hour drive along norwegian fjords in amazing weather. I just ordered the manual as well as a new oil and air filter :) Next up is replacing the chain, and what seems to be a front guard mounted on the frond underside of the main frame that has occumulated some rust. Before starting on the estetics and performance based upgrades :)

Brilliant! Such a lovely motorbike. Something indeed to be said for simplicity. Just now wrapping up the rear main seal job on my K1200RS, which also was under the knife for a spell... Hope to be back on the road Sunday. Take care, Geoffrey.

Hey buddy, great videos, but where is the t140v ones. Was looking forward to seeing more of it, i got mine about same time as you and your vids were good source of info. My main bike is a Triumph Thunderbird Commander which i use for touring Scotland, but my fav is my run outs on my 78 t140v, a real mans motorbike. Get some rideouts done buddy.

Hi Ronnie, All seems to be working fine with the T140V so far. I do have some minor maintenance work to do on it, but it keeps getting set back by other things getting in the way. Stay tuned, you will definitely be seeing more of it. :-)

@@gmcevoy cheers Geoffrey, ive got mine running really good now, tweaks to carbs, and thought it had ignition problem, was popping and missing. Turned out it was the old plug caps that had shot it, new ones on and running like a dream. Old saying, check the obvious first :)
@gmcevoy
@gmcevoy Жыл бұрын
@@ronniemcmurdo2016 Indeed! A healthy spark arriving at the right time is the first thing to check, when running issues arise. I need to time the ignition on my T140V because sometimes it kicks back upon starting, which is rather unpleasant. I am quite certain this is also why I can't seem to do the Ton with it. It has too much ignition advance... I will definitely make a video about that. 🙂

@@gmcevoy on the kickback Geoffrey, i experienced the same with mine at first. It seems it was diwn to my carburettors being way off tune. Once we got them balanced and air/fuel mixture correct the kickback disappeared, if mixture is too rich it will spute you, just saying buddy.
@gmcevoy
@gmcevoy Жыл бұрын
@@ronniemcmurdo2016 Thank you for the heads up. I will look into it. I have not touched the carbs since I bought it, so as a matter of course, I will delve into that once I am sure that the ignition system is up to spec. Tune-up video coming up! Hehe.
