Hi there, In this video I have been having an alternator that has been giving me spike voltages as high as 16v and causing my interior lights to flicker like christmas lights. I read that there is a device inside of the alternator that should be controlling the voltage output, anyhow in this video I am showing you and learning along the way of how I attempt to fix this issue and change out the alternator itself. Nice, and if anyone goes this route of talking the manifold off. I would replace the starter also.

I just replaced a few oil seals on my daughters. I noticed the alt looks pretty bad. Man this looks like a all day job ugh. If I do it I will reference your video and also replace everything else while I’m in there.

You dont need to remove the engine mount either ,just the power steering pump ,the over flow bottle,the radiator fan and the front grill then the radiator holder brackets.

I am trying to take out the belt using a 14mm wrench turning the tensioner pulley bolt clockwise as i have seen to so many other videos but still it is so tight it does not even loosen. Did you manage to do it only by jacking up the engine and taking off the mount without messing with the tensioner pulley ?

That was the only way for me to do it since I didn’t have much room.

You dont need to remove the intake..I just did my cousins 02 crv...

Mines is doing some flickering. It’s getting dim and back up to normal brightness. Was your battery light flashing while you were having these issues? Im assuming my alternator is also going bad as well.

My battery light wasn’t flashing, check your battery first. Should be at 12v without the car being on. If it’s not, and it’s lower, it’s your battery. But if it is and the car is on, it should be at a somewhat constant 14v after the car is turn on. If it’s not, it could be the alternator. Mine started the flickering cause my car was getting more than the 14v and upon taking off the alternator, I found out my tensioner pulley bolt had stripped off the nut. Anyhow I still went and replace the alternator and tensioner. Just double check, especially for the crv, it’s a pain to replace the alternator.

your miles per tank ? Like 300 miles before refueling? I have an o5 Crv but I ending up messing the gas needle 🪡 while fixing something on the cruster and I don’t remember how many miles mine was giving me by that time I bought that car and few weeks one some lights on cruster went bad so that’s how I ended up with messing the needle gauge

Yeah. I would say an average of 300miles per tank and that’s with mix highway and city. Like 60%highway and 40% city. If you get close to 280 miles on one tank, it’s a good sign to go fuel up again.

@@projectsbyj25 can you please tell me more if you check on what miles your when then refuel light show up cause mine show up when there 200 miles lol but still don’t know cause i can’t get the needle back where it was I tried many times can’t get back the the original position haha so when it’s about a 1/4 left tank that light show up but the miles don’t really feel right I would love to know like how many miles you get on reserve fuel

@@thexflexclan yea, I’ll make a note of it and get back to u when I run this current tank down. It could vary but I’ll give u my mileage number when my gas light comes up so u can reference off of

About 2 hours. Although mine was a bit longer between recording and changing out other parts.

did you really need to unbolt the engine mount? What is the advantage of doing so?

I needed that extra room for leverage to undo the belt. Some people are able to loosen the belt without taking the mount off, I just couldn’t and this way made it easier for me to put everything back.
