I bought one about 6 years ago and it was a good bike. Seeing this video reminds me of how GOOD it was so I wont be selling it too soon. I must ride it again soon. Looong trips are essential. Spain to the UK was a no hassle trip.

Had a 99 K1200RS a few years back but had to sell. Now hopefully picking up a red 99 R1100S tomorrow.

wait wait wait what?! The Boxer was never "discontinued", it was produced all the time! In the early 80s BMW motorcycles weren't doing well and the K models did their important part to get the company back on track, but the R 80 G/S did so just as well. Furthermore, the 1993 Boxers don't have DOHC, they have one camshaft per cylinder IN HEAD! This is an important feature for its obscurity, how could he get this wrong?! DOHC was introduced in the 2010 Boxers and even then it was different from other ones, with each camshaft operating one inlet and one outlet.

The reviewer stated the two valve venerable boxer was discontinued in favor of the evolutionary 4 valve.

If you have the version with the comfort windshield and bars above the top yoke it is more comfortable than this version with the bars below the yoke and lower windshield. And it is not a "sports" bike it is a sport tourer, albeit on the sporty side. I own one.

Apparently that chap died a few years ago, I remember watching the show years ago, he was a great presenter. Rod Gibson was his name.

Well. After having been riding a Suzuki RF 600, then Triumph Daytona T595, and lately a Honda VFR 800, I 'm taking rather seriously the idea of purchasing this incredibly odd BMW experiment.....
