Helpful video, thank you for the time you took to make this. Gonna be attempting this myself today on my '06 liberty.

Never put a jumper wire on place of a fuse unless you've tested for a short to ground. You will let out the magic smoke in the smallest component of that circuit and could start a fire on top of that. And you could burn yourself as the jumper will get smoking hot if there is a short to ground. Otherwise, nice video.

I have a problem with my a/c. The compressor was replaced, the freon was refilled , but the system still doesn't work. Checked low pressure switch, checked high pressure switch. No continuity on low or high pressure connector or high

How the heck do you remove the first bolt? I cant hold the clutch still and get the bolt loose
@niesz5 жыл бұрын
I didn't have any trouble with that bolt. It came off really easy. The clutch has a lot of spots to put a screwdriver in maybe wedge something in that and hold it while you crank on the bolt. Since the kid has a new clutch don't worry about messing it up
@mohameddabous37815 жыл бұрын

I own a 2005 jeep liberty and im confused and stuck right now. I order and receive the kit, my compressor shaft doesn’t have any thread, the new clutch has thread. Look I receive wrong kit, but when i go online and search i cant find one without thread, all of them show thread. Im confused. Im trying to just replace the clutch and avoid buying new compressor because this one still good.
@frankmaceri57053 жыл бұрын
Just saw your post, 2005 2006 I believe has a different clutch setup I don't know what year they changed it I do not have stud sticking out of my compressor either I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport I had a 2005 I believe change the clutch on it as well you can either replace the face of the clutch or bang on another pulley they're pressed on, or you can just change the face of the clutch if it got wrecked! The other half has to look good. you just need to hold the compressor still with a screwdriver between those those big bolts in the front, and then undo it it's about 20 25 lb I think tops about when you re tighten it make sure you put threadlocker on it because the clutch face will fly off while you're driving and that's not fun at highway speeds I thank God that mine didn't destroy my fan my radiator or whatever when it happened. I hope that helps I hope you were able to figure it out. Good luck.

How did you hammer the pulley off? All of my hammering and prying seems futile.
@CaptainMoroni93 жыл бұрын
Not being rude, but did you make sure your snap rings were off completely?
@vesterb23733 жыл бұрын
I.m having the same issue. Both snap rings are off but bearings won't come off the shaft. I've hammered, sprayed PBJ, it almost seems like it welded to the shaft
@niesz Жыл бұрын
In that case you might need to replace the compressor as well, or just bypass it
@mclovin46594 жыл бұрын
The ac clutch on my Liberty seems loose i don’t know if that’s how it’s supposed to be I’ve never messed with but recently I’ve started this issue where I get no cold air when idle and i can hear the compressor cycling on and off every now and then
@niesz4 жыл бұрын
It sounds like the clutch is working, but the system might be low on coolant.
@mclovin46594 жыл бұрын
Quinten Niesz so turns out it was the fans electric connector, I had checked the fan at first because it had started overheating at idle when this first happened aswell but I guess when I checked it the fan had good connection since it was on so I thought maybe the thermostat so I changed that, everything was good, then today no cold air at idle again popped the hood and the fan wasn’t on, I grabbed the connector and it turned on, I let it go and it turned off so I just ziptied it so it won’t disconnect
@1Corinthians15.1-44 жыл бұрын
How did you know it was only the clutch you needed to replace instead of a whole AC compressor unit? What was your diagnosis? When I look at mine, one of the 3 little arms is loose and the clutch looks misaligned.
@niesz4 жыл бұрын
In this case the clutch was visibly rubbing on the inside coil. The bearing had clearly failed. If you're trying to test if the compressor is still good they usually lock up so spinning the inside shaft after you get the clutch off can help determine if the compressor is still good
@vesterb23733 жыл бұрын
Mine looked off center too and it was because the bearings were missing. Ate up 2 belts before we figured out the clutch wasn't turning.

Clutch is still not engaged
@niesz Жыл бұрын
If you don’t hear it engaging at all it might be a fuse that is blown, or very low on Freon. At which case you would need to just the compressor with 12 volts to see if it will engage. Not something I would recommend

Before you posted the video you should have went and got a fuse, showed that it worked and then posted it.
@edwardmurphy42894 жыл бұрын
Or perhaps replaced the fuse before replacing the clutch to see if that was the issue.
