my wife has this same car, with 140k+ miles. Only 2 things went wrong with it so far in the 6 years that she's owned it. We had to replace a stuck EGR valve and something else with the fuel system. Other than that it's been perfect. A little too perfect I think; super smooth and super quiet engine, not the most powerful but it get's the job done. This car has a super smooth and quiet ride. Perfect for road trips, and the gas mileage for this V6 aint to shabby either. We've gotten up to 30mpg at times. This reliable car is so perfect to the point of being boring.

@@MOUSEBOWEN I think you're wrong, the Camry had much more quality and durable, expensive materials than the Accord in this generation, and the engine was far less efficient and less powerful than the Camry, the Accord also had a wider turning radius. What you heard is wrong.

@@alh06 the Toyota Camry 3.0 has 192 Horsepower and the Honda Accord 3.0 has 200 horsepower. So the Honda is little more powerful. But you right Toyota is the best of the best. But not the 3.0 the 2.4 is better engine . Toyota are the best cars on the market than Honda

One thing's for sure, Camry and Accord have always been better than any of the American brands in its class. Camry is cozier like a better made Buick and Accord is sportier like a better made Pontiac. They both have their strengths and weaknesses so it's hard to say which is better between the two.
@1954awful6 жыл бұрын
thanks, your comment makes me feel great, my '99 Buick which I loved committed suicide at my mechanic's shop. he's a great friend as well and he has another customer who is OCD and buys nothing but a Camry and luckily he was ready to sell one of the 4 he has so I bought 2002 Camry LE. I was so sorry to have to let go of 19 yr. old Buick, the last new car I will ever buy again. But your statement "Camry is cozier like a better made Buick" eased my mind. Buicks do have an "expiration date", however, after research a Camry is like the energizer bunny, if taken care of. And previous owner left me a file with everything he's ever done to car and dates, also the last page was a schedule for the dates I should change oil, and every other thing I should take care of and when. I was blessed by his OCD. If I ever want a newer car, I will first see if he's ready to sell one. He buys them used and when he is ready to sell one he does it through "our" mechanic. Also got a great price! Blessings to you.

='( My father has one of these. It WAS going to be my first car but now, it has too many issues and over 200,000 miles on it. The reason we took it to the dealership was because one of the cylinders isn't firing. Since the car is old, the repairs it needs are more expensive than the car is worth. Unfortunately, we are going to have to donate it to a scrap yard for it to be parted... RIP. (it was a standard non-modified xle) It had never been in one accident since it was bought new.

amanda Bendel. According to car problems and defects this car is a clunker 1992 to 2001 were all good but 2002 has a lot of issues I always tell people I know before you buy a used car do your homework because even Toyota has cars that had problems 2002 is one of them.
@amandatylerstudios6 жыл бұрын
I actually got a 2003
@max410506 жыл бұрын
amanda Bendel . 2003 has the seal of pretty good all you have to do is go to Google and type Toyota Camry problems and defects and choose the year you want to check out a rating of clunker or avoid like the plague is something to avoid buying. I bought a 1998 Toyota Camry le it has no rating which is normal all it means not enough information to give it a rating or too old for rating them but it tells you how many engine, transmission, cooling etc. Problems were reported my 98 has very few for a used reliable car you can't go wrong with the Camry 96 to 2001 or Corolla 96 to 99 . 2000 was a bad year for Corolla. So you should be fine as long as you keep with the proper maintenance like not letting the oil turn black as soon as it starts looking dark brown change it change the coolant if dirty transmission fluid too if dirty even the power steering and brake fluids just watch a few KZbin repair videos is easy that's why I like Toyotas anybody can be a mechanic they're so easy to work on.

The lexus/camry 3.0 is same entire drivetrain and it is 500k mile set up with just basic maintenance. if you do not get 300k from that motor you messed it up. Driven hard 300k easy change oil and fluids on time and that motor is hard to kill. seen half assed maintained 3.0 go 300k. I am religious I expect 500k easy 350k now and purrs like a kitten in mommas lap

I had a 2003 Camry LE and had to replace it after only 9 months because the previous owners ruined the engine. I now have a 2007 Honda Accord SE which crushes the Camry. The Accord is a much nicer car with better handling, more efficient & powerful engine, and a much much nicer interior. If you are looking at a Camry between 2002-2006 look at the Accord between 2003-2007. The Accord is a much better choice.
