To any so called Alabama fans who want to whine when the team loses a game, or they don't dominate every game, or don't win a national championship... This was a time when we were proud to have played played well in a close loss to Oklahoma. This was a time when we did not expect to win against the best teams in the country. A winning season, an Iron Bowl victory, and a bowl win were the best you could hope for. Remember that next time you want to criticize any decision by the coach who has won 6 national championships since the 2009 season.

Those who don't remember these years, or are too young to have lived them don't know how to appreciate what we now have. I'm fortunate enough to remember the late 70's with Coach Bryant, early 90's with Stallings, and now the Saban Era. However there were the Mike's in the mix also. As always ROLL TIDE win or lose.

Alabama had some rough years Shula & why Franchione i have no idea. Mike Price if allowed to coach would have been ran out of town. The AD finally ponied up the dollars and threw the bank at Saban. I knew immediately Bama would be back. I didn’t think 6 or 7 nattys though. The safety for Oklahoma #7 & Tommie Harris were straight men. Everage was the best on the field with his hitting. Every play he is hitting someone. I think he was an option QB as a recruit. Qb to a beast safety. Alabama and Shawn Williams was electric. Great hitting game!! Bama never dipped like OU did under Blake. Bama stayed afloat until Saban stepped into a starving fanbase and a administration with all chips pushed in on Saban.

I think I’m the mid to late 90s and early 00s the Bug 12 was probably the best conference but overall the conferences were more evenly matched. In that time period, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio state, Florida state, Miami, USC and LSU all won a title along with Nebraska, oklahoma and texas. . So overall there were five (six? I don’t know where Miami was) conferences that won a title between 1994 and 2005. We had pretty close conference parity. Then 2006 came and it became almost all SEC. I’m not totally sure why but the power shifted south. Only Ohio state has won a national championship since 2006 that was not in the South. The South has advantages. Very strong fan support. String high school system. Warm weather that attracts people from other regions. But the South has always had that. So still not sure why the change.
