This is by far the best view of the inside latch mechanism that shows you actually connecting the cable. Very well done!

For those of you planning to do this on 2005 Accord sedan. I used this tutorial for right front passenger door. The problem I ran into was the outside cable connection was housed in the door lock assembly. I was gonna give up, but I pressed forward, removed the door lock assembly with actuator. Once I had it off, I unclipped a plastic housing and was able to remove outside door latch cable. Attach new cable, put everything back and it works!!
@cutl00senc3 ай бұрын
And one more thing I forgot to mention…be sure to position the zip tie connecting the two outer loops together so that it is not gonna interfere with the cable bracket. In other words, it should be facing the towards the window of the door, away from the door panel so that it won’t prevent you from attaching the cable to the handle.

As someone pointed out below, this vid applies to coupes only! There is a vid that shows how to repair both the coupe and the sedan, the later of which probably requires a high-torque impact driver to remove the entire door latch assembly. Look for that vid before you try to do the repair on a sedan.

great video ! may I suggest that you insert the link of the place where you got the part from ?

If you’re wondering how to fix a sedan cable, here’s how I did it. You’ll need three zip ties that are the smallest kind you can find. I used 4” long, 3/16” wide ones. Make a loop with the first one and slide it on loosely past the broken part, then Put another one on near the end of the cable. Put the last one through the others loosely and connect the ends together. You should now have three loops with one on each end and one connecting those two together. Now tighten each end as much as possible keeping them as close to the broken part as possible. Then tight the one connecting those two until it starts the bend the cable slightly. Now reinstall the cable into the handle and before you tighten everything up, test it to make sure it works. I did this 9/21/24. I will reply back in a few months or if it stops working again to let you know the results. Seems to work fine for now. You can thank me later!

Will this not work for a 2006 accord? I thought all 7th gen accords were basically the same structure wise?
@davidguerra97543 жыл бұрын
Not sure. I believe the body style changed in 2006. However, I have to believe the process would be very similar.

@@davidguerra9754 thanks for responding! I’m unfortunately taking it to dean honda. Taking apart my passenger door today because speakers blew, the green latch broke as well no matter how carful I was. I know the 06 accords you have to take off the actual latch assembly in order to put the cord in. Was going to do it myself til the passenger door broke I feel like if I did it myself I’d end up braking the outside handle latch and then not be able to open my door.. just a lot of bs unfortunately. Sadly have to pay $192 per door.. not fun but I guess it is what it is.
@ty84733 жыл бұрын
I saw you had a coupe I heard those are a lot more simpler to get to. Sadly the sedan 06 accords are really difficult atleast to not break the plastic when having to take out the long metal latch.. just with my luck the plastic will most likely break on that end :/

Can't you just jerry rig that plastic piece so you don't have to disassemble the entire cable? I am thinking lots of gorilla tape to create a thicker plastic structure?
@davidguerra97543 жыл бұрын
The tension on the connector is too much to glue it back together. Won’t hold.

@@davidguerra9754 I used gorilla tape and so far so good. Auto shop had quoted 105$, thanks for the video gave me the confidence to do it. Took 10 mins, so easy.
