Thanks for the great video, I was looking for a good and basic guide to start doing my own maintenance and this was perfect!

I will give you a tip, You will need to fill the oil filter with oil to at least half full, this will make sure it starts filtering the new oil right away.

@@hubi4888 Ha ha ha ha.... OK not the words i would have used. But spot on. Now had they mentioned oil getting to the engine more quickly I could have agreed. But that is only necessary if you do a rebuild. But then your manually moving the oil way before you start it and get it to idle.

Very useful video, thanks. Did you change or grind the front rotors? Not Toyota OEM air and oil filter - looks like Ryco. Toyota OEM said to be best.

Thanks for the great video. I was wondering if this would include the 2002 Toyota RAV4 or if there was a reason it's for 2003-2005 only. Thanks again :)

The basic concepts yes, not sure if previous to 2003 is the same powertrain and braking systems. But the way to do the maintenance is similar.

Nice video 👍👍 Can I use 5w-40 oil? My Rav4 milage is 220000 ml
@ShopDogFabrication6 ай бұрын
I’m not an oil expert. I use what the manufacture recommends. You’d need to do some google research to find out. I know that’s better for colder temps and in some cases warmer temps.

No coolant leak back of the engine on the ground or using coolant, that means the head studs aren’t stripped out and check the rear axle seals for leaking if awd, otherwise on my daughters vehicle we’ve just been able to do normal maintenance. Check transmission fluid level and condition. Test drive hot to see if transmission issues. Check to see if all the vin tags are on each fender, hood, etc. in the states each has a vin sticker if one is missing might have been in an accident and that part replaced.

@ 130k miles - How about the condition of the Coolant and Transmission fluids?
@ShopDogFabrication4 жыл бұрын
Those things were checked a few months ago and taken care of and good to raise up, not everyone has a coolant tester but should make sure fluids are topped off. When checking coolant make sure the engine is cold!! Do not remove the radiator cap hot or you will get burned. I also could have gone into how to replace spark plugs and how to gap them. Those were also done before I started the channel.

I'm getting this for my 28th birthday this month. It has 145K KMS...any advice?

The only issue we ever had with ours was the cylinder head bolts pulled the threads out of the block. I had to drill out the block and put in inserts and new gaskets and bolts. I have a few videos on that. Otherwise it’s been a good vehicle for my daughter and we have just done normal maintenance.
