Amazing how Cal Wells team plummeted so quickly after this. They were 5th in the points after several good runs. Fell to 27th by season’s end and the team couldn’t even crack the top 30 of points in 2004 before disbanding

They have less HP now than they did back then. The cars weren't stuck to the ground and made of carbon fiber. the bodies were sheet metal and easily damaged you had to take care of your car back then which is why you see guys pull over and let others by

Definitely the greatest race from start to finish, Nascar should study this race and apply it today... tire wear, +time urgency (rain looming) so maybe shorter races, and drivers that could actually drive a wild race car without wrecking each other... also, the camera angle of the cars coming out of turn 2 was unbelievable.

I disnt see this race but saw the higlights on speed channel as a kid was a junior fan cause red was my favorite car also its amazing to realize that tommy Baldwin had two different teams (robby gordon took over the 7 in the mid 2000s)

Roush’s engines were such garbage. Always underpowered compared to Yates and Penske and good at blowing up.
