I am seriously looking at importing one of these, as I've imported a couple jdm's and just discovered kdm's. How do you find parts for it? Why are you selling it? Also in curious how the lack of glow plugs works in Canadian winters
@RodNaugler Жыл бұрын
Will you be importing more of these? How wide is the interior? As in, can I load a 4 foot wide sheet of plywood? Do the seats fold flat?
@Kingsoupturbo Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about a 4x8 in this baby! not totally flat the fronts, I'm considering bringing more in, but I think people found it a hard sell considering the rarity of it and concern about getting parts (its really quite easy) finding one in superb condition is not easy as well, glad you like it though!
@RodNaugler Жыл бұрын
@@Kingsoupturbo I've been watching more videos and looking into these. I really like the look of them. I can see that the seats don't fold flat. However, could you fit something 4 feet wide through the open hatch? It's been almost impossible to find measurements of the hatch opening. Can the 3rd row seats be easily removed rather than just strapped up?

Great video (considering it's shot handheld) and you sound a bit like Jeff Goldblum! I've been on the search for a cheap 4x4 as a base for the designated 'adventure' vehicle in the household, had a Mk2 Santa Fe in my mind (owned one before) but I think I should give the Terracan now a try too. The R51 Pathfinders are still too expensive for my budget here, and I hate the steering on Mk1 ML Mercedes (W163). IIRC, the king of Sweden used to drive a Terracan on his hunting trips too. ;-)

Hey there! if you can find one around to test drive, check it out! the value is really good, the steering is a little numb, and its a little slow, the brakes are very good though and the value is pretty good depending on where it is. Everything used is very expensive in north america at the moment, Pathfinders\Hilux all that stuff is asking silly money right now, Pajero\montero\Terracan seem to be value leaders. Thats pretty interesting about the king of sweden driving one! I think a lot about what I'm going to say in videos before I shoot them, thanks for watching!

Hi, I am moving from Texas to South Korea for my job. I am planning to purchase a 2003 Terracan shortly after my arrival next month. The rig has 93K miles and has had an environmental kit recently added to it. It is white and the interior looks great save the carpet, and the exterior is much the way you described yours. It is overall in great shape with a few character scratches from door rash and such. My first question is, did you have your timing belt changed at 60K? I heard this could prove fatal if it decides to let go. I am paying 4K for the vehicle and I think that is a pretty fair price for what it is. I am looking for it to be a hearty little workhorse with a sturdy diesel engine. Any thoughts or things I should be aware of?
@Kingsoupturbo Жыл бұрын
Hey there! What you have to be most careful of is rust. In south Korea they use a very aggressive form of road salt that can sit in pockets in the body and rust it away. Many of the Terracans I looked at on auction had rot on the Talkgate and especially the rear wheel well (just behind the rear passenger door) Almost all cars from Korea for sale include underbody shots to see rust. I've seen 2008 Hyunda Santa Fe's for example with totally rotted frame rails on them. If the body is in good shape, keep an eye on the Timing belt, I forget the interval but they are easy enough to change. Also, some Terracan's have the 2.5 Diesel, which is very very slow, and some are also only 2wd which is probably fine for Korea. 4k USD is not a super duper Deal, personally I would look for a Kia Mohave, they have much more power, barley any more expensive, much nicer inside and more modern. There are probably lots of deals actually in South Korea when you arrive, but if the Terracan is GTG and you need wheels the second you get off the plane, could be great! Hope your job change goes well (oil and gas?) sounds exciting!

It's very difficult to find any information on how safe these things are in impacts. Do you have any safety info?
@Kingsoupturbo Жыл бұрын
Your best best it to lookup Mitsubishi Pajero crash data as it supposedly is the same chassis and most of the body drivetrain.

Wondering how hard it is to source parts / service these. I also live in Alberta and have been considering importing one.

I am looking at buying a Terracan. Any known issues with anything I should look out for?
@Kingsoupturbo Жыл бұрын
There aren't many common failures, mostly high mileage ones can have standard diesel problems like worn out injection pumps, but the whole powertrain is quite robust generally. As its drive-by-wire, test drive it a good distance and get it really warm to make sure it doesn't go into limp mode etc. Mine would only do limp mode after you'd be driving about 15min +. Thanks for watching!
