The G35 looked great on paper and testers said great things about it, but the interior didn't hold up, especially the junk-quality leather, and they seem to have mostly died early deaths or gotten into the hands of lowest-common-denominator type owners.
@gedaman28 күн бұрын
The 2003 - 2004 model years were particularly bad with bad brakes that would wear out very fast. There was almost a class action lawsuit against Nissan over the brakes which is why Nissan improved the brakes for the 2005 model year when they gave the Infiniti G35 a mid-cycle refresh. The interior was upgraded too with higher quality materials including real aluminum trim instead of the cheap silver painted plastic trim pieces.

@@gedamanThe Q50 was developed as a G37, G22d, and G35h from 2007 to 2012, but those trademarks were abandoned abruptly by JdN in September 2012 and he Q-ed everything, in new trademark filings during September 2012. It was cryptic when they teased a new sedan in early December 2012, but not a new G by name. A week later, it all came to light. Q/QX renaming was leaked with those random trademark filings that September. In January 2013, Q50 was revealed. Essentially a mini Infiniti M in execution, which made it more comfort orientated, by fell out of favor with the enthusiast customer base. As much I don't want to hate Ghosn, it was mostly his decisions to cut investment in Infiniti in favor of BEV development and growing Nissan brand volume in the early 2010s-mid 2010s. The South African had the same issues with both Infiniti and Cadillac. Stingy parent companies with unrelenting CEOs in Ghosn and Barra, who weren't ready to go to toe to toe with the German trio head on. JdN wanted power packed turbo 6s, plus he wanted new V8s for Infiniti. He was told in no uncertain terms by Ghosn, Nissan V8 development had ended after the VK56 and that the VR series V6 would solely be its replacement. I knew once the Titan and Patrol generations ended, V8 Nissans would be gone. For now the Australian Patrol will keep the 5.6, but know that Johan did fight for a new V8 to be developed.

Hell of a car and it finally dethroned the 3 series both the sedan and coupe until the e90 came out with the 335i. That g35 gave me 282hp 300+ torque 540i a problem,I couldn’t pull on him until I did a few bolt ons. I later picked up a brand new e60 550i in 07 and the god damn G37 sedans were fast too,a g37S 6spd had no issue keeping up with my car at lower speeds,it was demoralizing. Again g35 coupe or sedan for $35k fully loaded was smoking an e46 330i sedan or coupe that was $50k+ for a 330ci with the zhp performance package,insanity. The G37 was great too but 335i was slightly ahead in performance this time and N54 is a legendary motor,so is a N55 in its own regard… still love the V motors in Infiniti,good stuff and I think Infiniti was the only Japanese brand to take on bmw and beat it

One of the greatest cars ever built
@VideoAmericanStyle28 күн бұрын
Almost unbelievable how far the Infiniti brand has fallen. They were on top of their game in the early 2000s, even giving the Germans a run for their money. Today? Utterly forgettable. A case study in abysmal product management.
@hellkitty101428 күн бұрын
We can thank Carlos Ghosn and his thuggery ways. Literally put Nissan/Infiniti a decade behind the car market. Luckily there is hope, given their remarkable products they're putting out as of late. I just hope they don't give up on the car game since the Q50 is now gone. A sweet car that just needed some modernizing.
@gedaman28 күн бұрын
@@hellkitty1014What “remarkable products” is Infiniti or Nissan putting out lately? They’ve given up entirely on cars with the discontinuation of the Infiniti Q50 after 2024 and the all new 2025 Infiniti QX80 is a joke compared to the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade and 2025 Lincoln Navigator. Nissan will be discontinuing the Altima soon as well. Nissan is basically on life support now. Carlos Ghosn turned the company around 25 years ago and then made a dash.
@nwezetx128 күн бұрын
@@gedamanI disagree, the QX80 is still competitive and many observers seem to think so. Not to mention the Armada as well.

Very long story, which I will get to later.
@hellkitty101428 күн бұрын
@gedaman Nissan of the 90s/early 2000s were vastly superior to thr crap Ghosn put out. Everything went CVT and Infiniti was left to languish for years. But cars like the new Murano, Armada, and QX80 are very competitive against their competition. Even the current Rogue and Pathfinder are solid entrants. What's with the doom and gloom??

I nearly put in order in for one back in the day, but the six speed was just a little pricey for my budget. I bought a low mile Z31 instead.

I had a 2002 G20 sport and would drive a g35 loaner while in service. The g20 had it flaws, but it was lighter weight and had some turbo options that would have shook up the segment. It was a great car and time for infiniti.

@@gedamanBlaming the Q50 introduction in 2013, ignores some other issues with the brand by 2014-15. Ghosn handicapped upward momentum of Infiniti in the 2010s.

INFINITI has always made really good vehicles for the money. It’s a shame they aren’t making any more cars and only SUVs/crossovers, but they’re far from the only brand doing so. You can’t blame them for only making what people want to buy, but it is a shame great cars like the G series sedans and coupes as well as the Q series sedans and coupes are gone now. I loved my old I35, loved my G37, and love my Q50. They’ve all been great cars and with a few basic mods outperform cars that cost nearly twice the MSRP.

Peak Infiniti / Nissan! Though the RZ34 is pretty awesome for what it is as the last "affordable" true JDM twin turbo sports coupe. I just wish Inifiniti would make an upgraded interior version of it (like 2025 QX80 level minus the crazy amount of screens) and keeping the hshift as the base option then transplanting the R35 GT-R DCT in the back for a 2WD upper option.
