The final match was absolutely breathtaking, watching it 18 years later. I must have missed when it was aired live. Ryan Schafer was always one of my favorite bowlers for so many reasons; he was(is) a dynamic bowler; he was from NY; I went to college near his home town; his last name is the same as my best friend's, and even his mom looked like my best friend's mom. What incredible spirit and determination he showed in this match. Tremendous power. I was with him on the final match 120%. Great outcome. Thanks for this one!

Technically, Barnes didn't advance until he knocked down eight on his first ball in the ninth (he needed four to shut out Fagan).

Fagan was playing a bit too deep on the lane. Would have loved to see another match between these two but this time Mike would be lined up better.

As for Ryan Schaefer, I think I see why he, at that point, had only won 3 PBA Titles. The very first frame.. he leaves a double split (The 4, 6, 7, 10)?!? Whew! That's a horrible break, and a horrible way to start his game! I'm not being mean or hateful in my comments, either. Just very observant.
