Which ring goes on as ring #1 the one with the R mark or the chamfered edge? Also what is position for clocking the rings?

I figured out you can without taking out the whole motor it makes it easier with the motor out but I was able to do it with the motor still in. I've already replaced the rings and cleaned up the cylinder and it runs fine
