Man, you made hard work of this. I did it yesterday and it took about 2 min. 19MM ratcheting wrench. No need to beat on the exhaust, no need to pull the mount bolt.

Good video sir. It wasn't the easiest way but it was a blessing to someone who did not know how to get it off. Keep on sharing these video's. Some one always need help. It was a blessing.

All you have needed all along is a Stubby Ratcheting Combination Wrench 19 mm. All you remove is the thermostat housing and hose. You will get two "clicks" out of the stubby 19. It's just enough to R&R the TSU. No damage to the heat shield or any other part.

Thanks for posting this video. Your narrative had me feeling like I was right there with you in the dark, holding a flashlight for you or something. As a kid, I did plenty of that for my dad as he cussed his way through auto repairs. I laughed and learned, thanks!

Ratcheting wrenches are always helpful in tight spaces. Not great for breaking a nut but once its broken lose they work well in tight spots where your socket will get back locked into another part of the motor.
@raychatman46984 жыл бұрын
I used a ratchet wrench, hand tighten it as much as possible, then use the box end ratchet wrench to tighten it, it's a 5 minute process, takes patience , but you'll get there

Is this the same as 3800 v6 5.3? I have a pontiac grand prix sedan 2008 dealer said 300 to do this job with part smh
@michaelmiguelicutti28293 жыл бұрын
@@Nicole-dj3jf What do you mean "3800 v6 5.3"? I think you're confused as to what engine you have. There is a 5.3 V8 option for this car from 2006-2008. Check under the hood to see if the engine cover says "3800 Series III V6" or "5.3L V8" and you'll know. If you have the V8 then this job very different, as it's a different engine.

@@michaelmiguelicutti2829 yes it's a series 3 it's parted aty mother I can't check if it has 6 or 8 spark plugs this dex shit is a night mare the antifreeze looks brown I need to do a super clean on the cooling system a few guys looked and they couldn't find the drain plug another guy said there is none and I'd have to take the bottom hose off to empty the old crap and switch it to another kind of antifreeze dex sucks ass fast engine way to big for the transmission

@@Nicole-dj3jf get a 180degree thermostat.Or did changing your ETC sensor fix it? I have a ETC sensor code and my grand prix gets halfway hot when idle or at drive throughs, when I drive over 40 continuously it goes down, I thought my fans were not kicking on but it was I think, I'm going to flush the radiator change the sensor and thermostat to the 180 degree one.Hopefully that will fix the overheating deal.

Looks like the duralast.sensor i bought.What a shitty location under thermostat housing where it can leak and next to a zillion degree exhaust pipe! Coolant probably leaked on the wire housing or the exhaust pipe fried the wires?
