2004-2008 Toyota Solara Passenger Side CV Axle Replacement

Today we have a 2005 Toyota Solara that has a clicking noise coming from the right front. We determined that the noise was due to a faulty CV axle. This process should be the same on 2204 Toyota Solara, 2005 Toyota Solara, 2006 Toyota Solara, 2007 Toyota Solara, and 2008 Toyota Solara, and is fairly similar on Camry, Sienna, and Highlander of the same years.

I bought an air hammer after watching this video. That bearing sure was stuck! I touched the tip to the bearing housing and used a pry bar. It came out in seconds, just like your video. Thanks so much for a great tip.

Yeah, I'm lacking that tool...looks useful though. So, you didn't need it? The pry bar was good enough for that? Im going to order parts and do this repair soon

@@vintage35171 I needed the tool. I bought a cheap one for $25.00, and used my pancake compressor, and it worked just like the video. I tried everything else first, including a slide hammer, but this technique was effortless, and came it out in seconds. Be careful to only touch the tip of the air hammer to the carrier bearing housing- not the bearing itself. Hats off to Automotive Insight.

I saw that tip too. What genius idea. Wish I would have seen this earlier. My carrier bearing I had to remove with axle and beat it off. Fun stuff struggling.. said nobody ever

So after installing the drivers side axle, no issues. Started the van and now i have a steady abs and flashing tire warning light. Any idea. Did i overstretch the speed sensor for that wheel. The code thrown is 32 . Will the light go out on its own if i replace sensor with new one. Is there a reliable/easy way to reset. I did try the "$200 paperclip trick" turn on tap brake 8x in 5seconds turn off, pull paperclip start car... -did not work😢.

Code 32 is for the left side speed sensor. If you broke the abs sensor wire, you can disconnect the sensor at the connector and check the resistance on the 2 pins with an ohmmeter. If it reads open, then yes, your speed sensor and/or harness is damaged. I've also seen cheap aftermarket axles not come with the exciter ring on the axle.

We used a cardone as well. Sounds like you probably need to replace the axle seal.

Absolutely fantastic tutorial. I have a 2006 Toyota SLE convertible V6 automatic transmission. And I have to rebuild, the CV shaft, and this just made it a hell of a lot easier. 🫡
