The lawn was gruel, and so 1st kicker Nakamura missed and fell down. 2nd player Santos did it also. The main reason why they failed PK is that they are the left-footers, and the right side of lawn under the ball was over broken then. Miyamoto who was the captain of Japan pleaded to change the goal side. "Referee, this is not fair. You should change the side. You must think about it." Malaysian referee Subkhiddin accepted this. That's why.
