seriously dude, you used to caddilacs or what? You couldn't say anything more about how cheap you thought the interior was? And what kind of quality issues are you referring to? Granted mine has some wear and tear, but it has 190 thousand miles on it. And i suppose it would feel peppy with 170hp. The car only weighs 2500 pounds.

Dude. He also failed to mention that it has a naturally aspirated engine, with all the advantages in terms of maintenance that not having a turbo entails. If I had to bet, I would bet a new 2000 ZX3 2.0 would have smoked a Porsche 356 around a track when it was new.

You are terribly confused. The ZX3 and ZX5 were not trim levels. They were body styles: 3 door hatch, sedan, and 5 door hatch. ZX-4 might actually be a trim level of the sedan, but you'd have to look. You could get a ZX3 or 5 in different trims, for example, SE. There were not three, but four engines. The 110 and 130 hp 2.0 liter engines were completely unrelated (the former, the SOHC, the other venerable, but by that time aged and outgoing DOHC Zetec). The SVT engine was a version of the later. In 2004, there was another available engine too, the 2.3, which carried forward. I couldn't make it past the second minute, so I'm not sure what misinformation came after that point. Don't just make stuff up. Do research.

MsSnEmily I'm super sorry for not replying sooner. Some things you can put on the Focus to make it more aggressive or just a bit more fun to drive are: A cold air intake, like the one Steeda offers that looks clean and gets rid of about 5lbs of plastic! Another good idea is to invest in a new suspension, the one I have been eye balln' for years is the SVT suspension which I know will make the car feel sporty and even improve the handling by reducing that body roll in corners! I know from experience the hatchback with bad/old or even soft suspension will feel like it's going to fall over in any turn you make! :) I hope that helps, if you're even going to get a Focus by the time you read this LMAO! Check out Steeda.com for other parts too!

If he thinks it's shoddy quality he's obviously never driven a mk4 or 5 Escort, maybe he's 12. I really don't think he has a frame of reference. I don't know who his researcher is but he should fire them.

Keith Allen The Zetec-5 was the most advanced production engine Ford had ever produced. Hydraulic intake Cam timing, oil squirters in the block, tuned header with single integrated catalyst, dual stage intake manifold, and lots of forged and strengthened internals. With tuning these engines pushed well over 190 flywheel horsepower, incredible when you consider even modern direct-injected 2.0L engines with more technology such as Mazda Skyactive-2.0 produce 155hp (but run regular unleaded)

I loved my SVT but wish I could have found a clean 4 door EAP version like the one shown here. I've driven the Focus ST and SVT, and I prefer the driving qualities of the SVT more. Sure the ST feels more refined, but for shear driving fun on twisty roads, it was a lot more fun to push the SVT to the limit than the ST. The car is slow off the line, but with a good brake compound I could stop late, and really carry speed through the corners.

I own a 2002 Ford Focus Svt/ST170 and owned it since 2005. This particular Ford Focus Svt in the video has the European Appearance Package having the black Recaro bucket seats and 15 spoke wheels. The 3-door version out sold and was more popular than the 5-door version. The rarest Ford Focus SVT came in Competition Orange. I believe that color came out in the last production year of this vehicle. It's a rare car indeed and you don't see very many of them on the road these days!

@nezerac10 жыл бұрын
So is the escort, mondeo (fusion), xr4ti, scorpio, basically ford has tried to bring their euro awesomeness to the states for over 30yrs now. Also the Focus st is a throwback to the ford escort rs turbo. The rear end and handling and suspension are very similar. Look at motorweeks review of the 1990 ford escort on youtube. They talk about how the rear steps out when you toss into a corner. this was back in 1990 mind you. Before mazda gayed everything up with the japanese idea of performance. What you SHOULD'VE been correcting him on was the fact he keeps say "cogsworth" when it's frickin COSWORTH!!
@dilawer32110 жыл бұрын
nezerac Focus ST170 wasnt a throwback to the rs turbo (i owned an rs turbo series 2) it was the replacement for xr3i's, and the xr3i's were the succesors to cars like the mk1 and mk2 escort mexico's etc untill they all turned front wheel drive, but yeah i hate the way he says COSWORTH haha

@dilawer32110 жыл бұрын
nezerac Depends which ones, they vary in price as back in the days most people who owned them were street racers lol so most have been crashed and modified etc, very hard to find a standard one nowadays, also it depends which model, a nice escort cosworth you can get for around 15k, sierra saphire cosworths start from around 7k but an original 3 door sierra rs500 can go for 50k nowadays, crazy prices, i wouldnt say we got the best fords though lol if i lived in america i wouldnt care about a 300bhp focus when i can have a 500bhp mustang, or then again if i had the money i would probably have both lol unfortunately i dont :(

I'm not sure what you're basing the "fit and finish" on, this car was made during a time when the world cars they imported weren't cheapened. Compare this to the 2005 focus and you'll understand. Much better materials, quality switches, etc. Also: 170hp was FAR from typical for that class, unless you're talking specifically "hot hatch" type stuff, which was incredibly limited in North America. You talk too much bs, dude haha. It's cool to stop and think about what you're going to say, or better yet, as (presumably) an aspiring journalist on car reviews: study up and know your facts beforehand.

Thanks for the vid, there is surprisingly little footage of the SVT Focus on KZbin. I have the 03 5-door, 70k miles. One of the most important features of the Focus is the extreme headroom and ability to accommodate almost any size driver. The "tall bubble" shape is pretty much standard for all hatchbacks now. The rear seats are indeed vinyl/leatherette, still made by Recaro. The dash might look dated but compare to other cars of the time: all squares and rectangles.
