2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 4in BDS lift kit and p 265 70 r18 tires and wheels. I wanted to upload this so that way other people would have some idea of what to expect when lifting their Jeep. I put a lot of data in to this video because I did a lot of research. I wanted it to be right. I hope this helps you in your search for the right lift kit and tire for your Jeep.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know that after installing a lift kit I did get a death wobble. I discovered that what is happening is pretty common with coil sprung vehicles. If you get a death wobble, do what I did. Install a jks track bar. It effectively removed the wobble!

I had a death wobble when ever I was on the highway and had to slow down. Turns out I had a coolant/oil leak onto the steering stabilizer, ruined the seal. Replaced it and the wobble went away.. I probably should of changed the bushings & tierod ends as well..

Thank you for the info... I have a 2004 Grand Cherokee as well... Mine is the 4.7 V8 with the Quadratrack 4WD System (AWD). I want to do a lift... you have 33's and I have 32's. 265 - 70 - 18s. But I am also doing the Bushwaker fenders flares that will give me a bit more space. I think like yourself, 4 will be good... wish I could do 6 but that's another ball game. Anyways, again, thanks for the video.

Good video/info John. Great looking WJ. I've got an '04 WJ special edition, all silver, with the 4.7 v8(non H.O.). I've done the 2 inch budget boost blocks, new pro comp es9000 shocks, 18 inch rims from a 2018 Grand Cherokee and 265/75/R18 Firestone Destination AT2 ....rides awesome. Mine is the quadra-trac II(fulltime 4wd you mentioned), I feel like I get a little vibration from the front driveshaft at about 55mph. Still fun to play with though.👍

Hey man great video can you do a video of any other trouble or issues you’ve had with the Jeep and overall the experience when wheeling off road , some info like how many miles the truck has gotten and like how it’s held up since the bigger tires and lift ... nice looking job though I’m only 30 but that’s exactly how I’d do mine looks very purposeful and clean no need for the goddy flashy wheels and what nots haha

I know this is a bit late, but just an FYI, the trailer hitch is a factory recall to prevent major accident damage. If you take it to the dealership they will take off that one and put the factory recessed hitch receiver for no charge.

It’s not a AWD. You have the best 4x4 Select Trac. I have the same in my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. A bit close on the back tires and you can get adjustable lowers on the back and push the tire backwards 1”. Very nice stance, that would be what I’m looking for myself. Sweet ride.

That's right, it is not all wheel drive. Did I say that it was? This is four-wheel drive, it also has low range which all-wheel drive does not.

No you did not say you had AWD I only wanted to clarify that you have 4x4 using the 242 J or heavy duty transfer case and Select-Trac

I’m lifting my 2000 Jeep wj 4.0 in-line six with Quadra track and could you possibly tel me what all will need to be done to properly lift it. Like do I need to build anything stronger before hand? I’m In the army and time is budgeted

Honestly I just followed the directions of the kit manufacturer. The only thing I did additional was installing the track bar. Ask your get vendor if there are any other recommended components.

Best thing you can do Chris is check your existing tie rods, ball joints, and especially what type of front driveshaft you have. If the either end of your front DS looks like a CV joint, put aside money to get a DC(double cardan) DS. The CV type (Known as rezeppa) are know to fail within weeks/months after lifting. That is the reason they they say no all wheel drive(known as quadra Trac/ 247 transfer case) vehicles should be lifted. I have 2 WJ's. A 99 4.7 limited, and a 2002 4.7H.O. overland. That are very capable in stock form, but the lift takes you to another level.

I have a 04 wj special edition with 51k miles. Want to put a 2 inch lift on it. I can’t figure out if thats ok with the “awd” model that I have 😐

I have the same model and have been wheeling it for over a year with the 2” BB spacer lift with no issues. I also did a bunch of trimming and was able to fit 33” tires on it. Even with the larger tires there has been no issues with the drivetrain or steering control.

How tall is it? I want to lift my jeep and am afraid it wont fit back in my garage! Mine is like your only red and 71k miles.

I'll bet it is 6'4 tall. I'll bet you have a 7-ft garage door and it should fit just fine.

Why would this guy not put new spring isolators on? I could point out the many other inexpensive details that he didn't do because he doesn't know what he's doing, ...but it's not my job.
