pretty refreshing to see someone just film reality. Everyone acts like they run a movie studio anymore. Doing 5 takes to tell someone how to brush their damn teeth or take 20 selfies because you're trying to get everything perfect. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks man, wish I could say that's what I was aiming for, and it wasnt just one take laziness...lol. But really though, I just dont really have plans of starting a big yt channel, so I am just aiming to get functional info across. Mostly trying to get decent camera angles.

Great, great work! I'm always impressed by guys who aren't afraid to go out there and publish, even when they're not fully confident of what they're doing. Letting everyone see the mistakes so that we don't follow down the wrong path. Thank you so much for your efforts. Cleared up a bunch of questions I had without having to go through the tedium myself! God bless.

@@repairandcreate6192 Absolutely. And now I know how! I DO have a question for you and anyone else out there in TV land who might know... I love my '92 Concours. It's in brand-new condition and runs like a sewing machine. No scratches even. However, I do have an issue with its seating position. I traded my KLR for this bike, and now I get fatigued in my upper thighs when I ride for more than an hour or so. I solved part of the problem by buying lifts for the handlebars, which keeps me more upright, but what I REALLY need are highway pegs. I have tried to see if I could fashion them myself, but there are very few places where they might attach. Do you, or anyone else here, know of a set of highway pegs that would work with this year model? I'm having no success on the Googles.
@repairandcreate61924 жыл бұрын
@@mikesulhoff1137 That's funny that you had a klr, I did too, but I kept mine when I bought the Connie. I don't have info for your on highway pegs though, sorry. I tend to stand up often and also let my legs flap in the wind as well. I made some highway pegs for my klr that replaced the front engine mounts. I'll take a look at my Concours in the next couple days, and if I get any brilliant ideas I'll share them with you.

@@mikesulhoff1137 Hi Mike, this is 2 years ago you wrote this, BUT here goes. I’ve owned my Connie since 2006. I’ve purchased a ton of stuff from “Murph’s Kits” out of Kentucky. He has highway pegs/bars that fit. They run bout 158.00 ish last I checked. Shipping is USPS priority and it’s included statewide. Great guy. I purchase the C10’s tip over bars years ago, and I attached Kuryakin Hwy bars/foot pegs. (& they cost …more than Murph’s, but are a little more bling… . Plus I had the 1” tip over bars on already.). His kit doesn’t require anything. Good luck

I just bought a fender on ebay for 15 bucks and trimmed it just below license plate . Now the tire comes right out . No boards no issue really at all .Wish I would have done this years ago .

You don't really need to mess with the shock linkage. Remove left muffler, then rear brake caliper. Unbolt drive unit like you did. Push out axel until it clears the left side of the swingarm. Now pull tire and drive out. Pull out axel, Bob's your uncle. When reinstalling push axel through drive, then tire until flush with spacer. Slide under rear of bike, push axel through swingarm and put on nut finger tight. Tighten final drive bolts and axel bolt. Put on caliper, muffler, done. Doing it this way you don't need the block of wood under center stand. Had to take mine off the other day, gas tank full. Getting bike on centerstand bit nerve racking!

The reason I didn't was that I didn't want to mess with the exhaust seals, and the exhaust bolts were stuck pretty good as I recall. That was my first thought though was remove the exhaust like you said. I would have to rewatch the video to recall, but I thought the rear fender was the issue that blocked the wheel from coming out from under the bike that the block solved for me? Thanks for adding to the discussion.

@@repairandcreate6192 Look, great job because you went the distance & “got her done!”. I’ve removed my rear wheel twice (?) for tire change. The Clymer manual (2004)for my 2002 Connie, has the rear wheel coming off in just a few steps. I’ve watched several videos where a new owner, or new to wrenching on a C10 went to great lengths to remove the rear tire, as you did. Those exhaust “gasket(s) are cheap at Murph’s Kits out of Kentucky. I purchased one, but mine was in good shape, so I just reused it (twice). So, does that make you a sorry so & so for doing it the hard way? Of course not! Man, I was impressed. Some folks (me) have never changed out a MC tire on it’s rim! It’s just not a fun job by hand… . Changing bicycle tires can be a plain (to me). Great job really. You got what it takes my friend 👍🫡. Oh, the previous owner of my mc, had removed about ?? 6” inches on the back part of the fender & relocated the license plate holder way higher. He did NOT realize it would make pulling the rear tire of WAY easier. I reaped that benefit 😎👍🤗. If your going to keep your Connie (as I have since 6/11/2006), you might consider relocating your rear license plate holder up, and cut off the stuff below. Makes removing that rear tire easier for sure. I suppose I could let the MC shop remove the tire from the bike, but that’s a lot of money when it’s really not that hard once you’re done it once or twice. Pulling the tire off the Rim? Now that’s some work I’m not sure I want to try at 67… . Again, great job, & thanks for the video sincerely. Pa bird

Thank you! The shop manual doesn't mention taking that bolt out from the shock. Without getting that wheel lower, that axle will never come out. I knew there had to be a better way than removing the mufflers.

There is no need to pull that drive unit. You can the tire off without removing that.

It's been a while since I did this video, but I was curious what you were reffering to so I watched that part again. It looks like the tire width was too wide to fit between the swing arm and the bevel gear assembly. Do you just force it through? Or do you mean, you leave the assembly on the wheel and just take the front 4 bolts out?
@RealSuburbanCowboy2 жыл бұрын
@@repairandcreate6192 the stock size tire will fit in there. It is a bit snug, but nothing was forced. This is still a great video, and I am thankful it was there.
