2004 Saturn Vue I4 CVT Transmission Oil & Fill Plug check.

In a previous video I showed that my Saturn has a grinding noise in park & neutral only. In this video I wanted to check the quality of the transmission oil, then I decided to open the fill plug to see how much over it was. As I mentioned in this video, I personally put 8 quarts of cvt fluid in. Here's the thing about that. At 100k I went to a local Car-X and had them do a transmission flush. So if I put 8 quarts in at 124K and this is a seal transmission, and only about a quart comes out of the fill plug, does it stand to reason that Car-X did not fill my transmission as they should have? If so, then this is the second time that Car-X has bamboozled me.

I have similar cvt in a vectra. I read the service manual and it does not mention this plug beside the oil cooler line. Its a secret plug? Manual i think say while idling engine, remove inner drain plug, drain untill dripping. Put back inner plug. Top up based on oil temperature (read out from diag software, look up quantity from a table ) , but approx 1 litres at 60-70 deg celsius. The whole transmisjon take approx 8 litres, but only 4 lites will come out if you drain it (outer drain plug) and so approx 4 liters should be filled again. The remining 4 liters can not be drained.

I have a 04 ion. Same trans? I am changing the radiator and fan. Had to disconnect trans cooler lines. A little bit came out. Not much at all. Now I’m wondering about adding a little fluid or maybe changing it all

8 have the same vehicle but mine is 2003. I have a squeaking noise, what is that noise if you know?

If you have the four cylinder you're not going to have a dip-stick for the transmission.

How did you refill the transmission fluid?

There is a cap on top on the driver's side. It's well hidden, it says DEX-CVT. Use a long funnel.
