My dad had a 2004 xl7 limited edition it was pearl white and we loved it but then he traded it in for a 2007 Grand vitara. Till this day I still miss that xl7

@motoYam82 Obviously we love the XL7. We'd planned to do a project of a Grand Vitara but the industry a little tighter with their vehicles than they used to be....

I have the 2002 XL-7 base model 4x4 with a slick-shifting manual 5-speed transmission. It easily gets 21mpg city, 24 mpg highway, up to 26mpg on backroads! Plus with the low-range it can get through some seriously steep and rough stuff! The clutch is heavy, but fits the XL's solid feel very nicely. It's by a fair margin the most capable, enjoyable multi-purpose vehicle I have driven. It would be great to see reviews of the more off-road trim SUVs instead of the loaded limited models...

@Jay1Co Never tested the diesel. We don't have them in the US
