2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x4 Front Brake Rotors and Pads Replacement The Fixit Shed

My 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x4 needs some brake work to pass inspection. Here is the full processes for doing a complete brake job on the front brakes.
Please note, if you have a 2 wheel drive Explorer, the front rotors are different, and don't just slide off. You have to remove the spindle nut, then the rotor (with wheels studs and bearings) come off.

I own a 2005 sport trac also. I bought the front rotors and break pads to do it myself. Everything was going good but I just can't take the rotor off, i tried banging it with a 4lb mallet and is still stucked. Any suggestions on what else can i do? I put WD40 and nothing the rust is so solid.. a friend suggested wetting them but, honestly I am getting desperate with these rotors.. hehe any tips can be helpful. And is it normal that the pads rub against the rotor when you spin it like on your video? Mine is the same and i test drove around the block and they work nice but I want to be careful from over heating the rotors.. and i see yours rub the rame.

WD-40 is the 1st thing that comes to mind. Could also try a wire wheel on a drill or angle grinder to get the rust off, or maybe a file. Maybe try heating up the rotor if you have a torch or heat gun. It is normal for the pads to drag slightly on the rotors.

@@TheFixitShed finally today I decided to get help from a mechanic friend with it and right off the bat he told me, the truck on this video is a 4 wheel drive or something.. and my rotors are for 2 wheel drive so i had to go buy the ones with the bolts attached to them and he just grased and transfer the bearings and that was it.. no wonder why i couldn't take the rotors as in this video. Hehehe now tomorrow is time to return the wrong ones.

Try heating the friction point with a small hand-held propane torch. Penetrating oil first, if you want to try peaceful means first.
