Requesting you do a video on the rust spot fix. I have one about the same size in the same spot. Thanks.

Seconded! UP here in Maine, that is a given repair on most older Subarus. Thanks!

@Spaceman I bought a '04 WRX once. The first time I tried to lift it, the jack went right through the rocker lift point. The rocker panels were GONE. Filled in with expanding spray foam, covered with window screen, then Bondo and undercoating. Looked great when sitting on the ground, but from underneath, it was a mess. Lesson learned.
@pedlpower5 жыл бұрын
@Spaceman Bondo doesn't rust though!

That's a lot of rust! And I'm from Wisconsin where rust is notorious. I bought an 02 fozzy that sat in the weeds on a riverbank for 5 years and surprisingly there's 0 rust anywhere on the car

these are the best inspections on 'tube; gr8 impromptu on the undercarriage 😉 also, just an idea; maybe put in an h6 and pair with the stick

H6 would be awesome in one of these older lighter fozzies.

God blessed you with with the other one you just picked up. This one could be a huge "Distraction " Lol! Of course, you know what you're doing...for me it would take years...I Love how you know this is manageable to do! The sheet at the end shows good results! Do you figure your labor hours in?

I don't. It's a labor of love. Haha. And content to teach the world through KZbin. 😊

That oil leak reminds me of the 2000 impreza outback i got from auction. I had to replace the engine due to smoke and leaking head gaskets. I could never find a EJ22 phase II so i just dropped an EJ25 in it.Junkyard motors can be risky. I had to pull 3 engines until i got a good one. I guess you use Pall A Part in Charlotte. I use Pull A Part In Columbia. And Sunshine in Orangeburg. Great video.
@MrSubaru13875 жыл бұрын
Yup. Pull-a-part in Charlotte, LKQ Charlotte, LKQ in Greer, and Pull-a-part in Columbia. Cycle through those 4 mainly.

Might wanna check the fuel filler neck. With that kind of rust, it's likely even worse.

This heap is the definition of a parts car. OR you could replace the entire suspension on this rust bucket, then you can see what so many of us have to suffer through! Especially those rusty swap bar links and ball joints.

Subaru must be pretty rust prone. I have a 2001 Saturn LW300 that is mainly used as a "DOG TAXI". I bought it new and it has spent its entire life in northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Except for a dime sized rust spot spot on the tailgate the car is rust free.

another g8 video. I have a car in the garage for a month now, with the engine on the floor, time to order the parts and get it on the the road, before my wife kicks me out. LMAOL

Confused on the oil cooler...thought they were only equipped on Turbo models...or do they come on all manual models?
@MrSubaru13875 жыл бұрын
I thought they were on turbos and H6s. I forgot that the Forester got oil coolers. For some reason. I guess because of them being more likely used to tow during those years? Not sure. The 05 L.L.Bean Forester I bought has an oil cooler too.

@@MrSubaru1387 My 05 FXS has one too. My 03 OBS didnt have one so when i noticed it i had no clue what it was. Anyways, just replaced the oil cooler gasket on it (simple fix thanks to your video), not leaking as much oil now
@briantrauger26895 жыл бұрын
My ‘03 Forester X has an oil cooler. Those gaskets have a habit of leaking but are easily replaced.

Hey Mr Subaru. Have you ever had any issues on any Subarus with a locked/seized up tailgate lock? It coukd be rust on the latch. Trying to figure out a solution on a 2005 forester. Perhaps greasing/lube the parts. Its a common issue apparently. Any help appreciated.
@MrSubaru13875 жыл бұрын
Nothing off hand. My 95 Legacy L has the issue. Aside from replacing the lock cylinder, you could try some graphite in the lock.

What do you think causes the check engine light to be on with the cruise control light to flash at the same time on a 2005 outback 3.0? I’ve changed a 7.5 amp fuse that always fixes it temporarily, but it always happens again. Appreciate any advice you can offer. You’re really dialed into Subaru’s, so I wanted to reach out to you to see what you thought. Thank you!
@MrSubaru13875 жыл бұрын
Any code will trigger a CEL and disable cruise control. The only way to know is to scan the codes.

What's a good way to prevent rust in the rear quarter panel spot? There's none on my 06 impreza yet and I would like to keep it that way.
@MrSubaru13875 жыл бұрын
First, remove the rubber wheel well trim.

Hey its me again 01 OBL 2.5 what do you do when the rear axle shaft has rusted to a rear wheel bearing im tryin to replace notei put the four bolts back in and i tried to use the slide hammer in reverse to drive the axle back through the bearing with no success any tips thanks in advance

Usually pull the axle and spindle then press the axle out of the hub with a shop press.
