Thanks, very helpful. Alas I'm stuck at the first stage of replacing my alternator belt and can't even see which panel to remove. On a UK model (2005 A), is the the alternator on the driver's side in front of the side jacking point?

I might have to replace my alternator on my 150 petrol. No need to drop the engine a bit to replace it? I have already by passed the AC Compressor...
