You are fortunate to have the skills and confidence to undertake the repair.Some repair shops are nothing but rip off artists. Have a nice Thanksgiving

+mike1946 Thanks! I just really thought the job out and watched some other videos and also took my time. Took about an hour and a half. No sense in rushing. God Bless and have a nice Thanksgiving.

+mike1946 our X-VW mechanic is a creep, no more of his ripoff bull$#!+

+umajunkcollector turns out VW as a manufacturer was a ripoff with faked emission engine test parameters. Then it spread to the entire VW group to Porsche and Audi. A shameful happening to German engineering prowess.

IMO: Oh yah, all that EPA emissions bull$#!+, it's the govy that is the real ripoff, Obama and all his greenies idiots. They all do it, but all that under the table bribery causes the corrupt politicians to look the other way. I bet some congressman didn't like his free Pasat, or was paid by Toyota to target VW. I bet there's a lot of blackmale in Washington, pay, or be "exposed". Obama is the cover up con man like his friend Hitlery Rotten Clinton.

+umajunkcollector lol! Lets blame The US president for unscrupulous German engineering practices! I believe that your reference "too much blackmale" indicates what is motivating your truly ignorant post!

Thanks very much for this video. I watched a few others, but this one was the most helpful. Showing that you need to press the clip to pull out the cord was a missing piece on the other videos. I ended up finding that a short screwdriver with the Torx bit was the best way to get the bolt out. The ratchet extenders were too complicated, and it was hard to guide without being able to see down there.

You lucky bastards! My 2006 E350 sedan utilizes a standard T-30 Torx bolt to secure the sensor! Very difficult to keep the torx in the head at such a weird angle and apply any meaningful torque. Well, i guess my night has just begun. Thank you, Lockemeister, for creating the most informative and detailed video on this procedure that can be found. Well......i better get back to the most troublesome vehicle that i've ever owned (for perspective, i owned a ford pinto in the 70's)! Avoid the 2006 E350 like the plague, you've been warned!!
@Lockemeister8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind comments. I wanted to point out that some E350's around your year(s), I do not know which ones, have some defect with the counter balance chain sproket gears. They strip out! Mercedes has a list of which VIN numbers are affected. Wow! You had a Pinto in the 70s? Well, it could have been worse and you could have had a Vega, or even a Mustang II. I remember some Mustang II's had a Foreign, maybe French, tranny, coupled to the American engine. I had a friend who had wicked vibration problems with it.

Actually, after removing the part, it wasn't too bad. Thanks for the warning about the fragile hose. I would have certainly chose that spot to lie on while working. Still, avoid that year/model (defective wiring harness, transmission, electrical etc....) at all cost. Unless, you seek a bonafide money pit!

On my e500 4matic I found the sensor had to be rotated clockwise slightly to remove it. When reinserting it have the bolt hole tab for the bolt at about 7 o'clock. Once all the way seated, rotate counterclockwise until it seats against the positioning tab, then the bolt is aligned & easily reinserted.

+Lockemeister I mean, $350 just for the sensor replacement. Not sure what they charge for the air filters replacement.

If you try this, it's not so bad. You just need patience and the right size hand and arm to reach down there to take the screw out without dropping it into the black hole. I wonder if the dealers have special workers for specialized jobs. Like an orangutan with a long reach.

What brand is that ratchet? I need one of those!
@Lockemeister8 жыл бұрын
+James'sWorld Thanks for watching. I'm; pretty sure that I picked that up at a place called Northern Tools. It's a chain store in the US. What's weird is I looked online on the store's website and didn't see it. So maybe Harbor Freight?? or Amazon?? I'm not sure of the branding of it. It's made in Taiwan and seems to be good quality. It only says, "Chrome Vanadium" on the ratchet. Watch out for Mainland China stuff though. The Gear Wrench E-sockets are very good quality and made in Taiwan also and I got the set on Amazon. That's the first time I used this ratchet and it worked out great. I like the smooth swivel head and the long throw of it to give more leverage.

+umajunkcollector Don, Too many electronic gizmos to go bad. But wait, the new ones are even worse. I put a new gauge cluster in a few months ago. I wonder if this Damm-old Chrysler labeled version of Mercedes Benz will be worth somethin in the future. That is, if we have a future! BTW: Man, did Daimler ever screw up with that insipid Chrysler merger.
