Bet the Astros never imagined he'd play an instrumental role in taking them the the World Series twelve years later! Great player (and great to have him on the team.)

This seems like a lifetime ago. I was never a McCann fan but you knew he was gonna be solid for the Braves for years to come.

It's really sad that Chipper is like the only player in the last 30 years to spend his whole career with the Braves cause the front office gives up on them or makes bad trades.

GreenDay1981 I agree with ya on this. The Braves has really let too many guys that should be lifers go, especially McCann. If there's anyone that should be a Braves lifer, it should him, especially considering he's from the area.

part of it is ownership too. The braves changed to being owned by Ted Turner into Time Warner who loved to pitch pennies and only sold the team for a tax write off to another penny pitching corpertation

The don’t necessarily give up. It’s like a car. You get the best miles out of it, trade it in for something you think is better and do the same. Unfortunately there is no money in just having a franchise in Atlanta. You have to win and even when you do fan turn out is always suspect unless you make it to the dance. Specifically speaking for baseball. Justice was ridiculed and dragged in the papers for bringing that up before saving grace by winning us the World Series in game 7 with his solo HR along with Glavins one hitter into the 9th. It stinks to see your favorite players leave but it has worked with others.

Oh and the braves still lost! So typical from the Atlanta Braves there culture their Dynasty is to choke on the playoff let it be writing let it be done Amen!

Joseph Alvarez I noticed in your brave bashing that you used the words, there and their. Both of these words were used in the same connotation. So one of them is wrong. Then you said “choke on the playoffs”... I think you meant choke IN the playoffs. There is a difference. The Braves choke IN the playoffs. You’re mom chokes ON the Braves. Let that be in writing, let that be done.

Why you say “choke”? Were they supposed to beat the Astros in 2005? I’m confused because Glavine was a Met, Smoltz was back in the Starter but injured, Maddux was back with the Cubs. So how did they choke again?

@@jordans9303 2002, 2003 &2004 a choke? How? Didn’t have the pitching. Smoltz was in the bullpen. Glavine was with the Mets in 2003 and 2004. Maddux left in 2003.
