@dwm1812 The sad outcome of this game for ND was that on the strength of this "moral" victory, Charlie Weiss was signed for 10 years. Once Charlie had recruited his "own" players he had a losing record against the usual cupcake schedule. USC, MSU, and UM are the only consistently tough games. The irish should go 9-3 in their worst years. Not under Charlie. He found a way to lose in every conceivable way. This game was lost when Jarrod caught the 70 yd pass on 4th and 9 with 1:20 to play.

lets be honest, USC has the recruiting advantage.. Notre Dame, in cold South Bend and a religious, Catholic school versus USC in sunny California known with the reputation of parties and girls. Good football has traditionally, though obviously not always, been typical of either team. Though neither image may be completely true, put yourself in the shoes of that high school senior.
