Just what I needed! Kind of stalled out in my OBXT build, and needed to see someone else doing the same thing to get me motivated again. I did mine a little backwards and replaced all the stock driveline with a JDM Spec B swap. (6mt, driveshaft, R180 diff, and CV's) If you happen to get lucky and find one of these, jump on it! Doesn't have dccd, but the taller gear set is amazing!

Hell yeah, love to hear that! We've got to keep these things clean and on the road. And nice, I'll have to keep my eye out for one of those!

Amazing, looking forward to the next video. This is excellent content to share for the DIY. Your hard work will be rewarded with the new handling capability of the car!

Love the content man! I've been watching since the very beginning. The legacy is my favorite build because it's so relatable, I still refer back to old videos for install help! Keep it up brother.

Man these types of comments are a trip for me, it so cool that there's real OGs like you who have been around since the beginning. Thanks for continuing to watch over the years. Excited to share the rest of this build and it just keeps getting crazier. Haha

Sweet! I have the same car and color that I just put a new factory short block in at 175k with my reconditioned heads, now it’s time to drop another 3k on bushings, braces, ball joints, tie rod ends , end links, arms, basically do what you are doing. Luckily I put slotted drilled rotors and nice pads, so there’s that. Appreciate the content and it will help me along the way.🤙

Our detail shop has a lot of work and off-road trucks come in and we recommend a shop that uses a brand called Line-X to protect the exposed wheel wells in larger work bed trucks and duallys, works fantastic
@avengednick
@avengednick 2 жыл бұрын
I've actually heard great things about Line-X, unfortunately it appears you have to have a licensed installer apply it and with how torn apart the car is I can't take it any where haha. But I appreciate the input!

I regret selling mine every day. It was an 08 sedan 5mt with a vf52 (oil screen in banjo was clogged). Hopefully I can find another one, or an OBXT

That’s my fear! So I’ll never sell it haha

When removing the tie rod ends you can loosen the nut and hit the knuckle with a hammer. It prevents and damage to the threads on the tie rod especially those fancy white lines
@avengednick
@avengednick 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I stupidly took the nut off and hit it and regretted it immediately. I knew better. Fortunately I was able to buy a replacement without having to buy the whole kit again

Why does everything on this car look so pretty and new? Thanks for the content?

I dry ice blasted the entire underside of the car in the last video which cleaned up most of the dirt and gunk that was on the chassis, but it's also been a WA/CA all it's life and I rarely drove it in the snow and I stopped daily driving it a couple years ago too.

Been following this legacy build for years man it’s beautiful to see some new content on it! I lost my 2007 Forester XTi build in a crash recently and got a stock outback XT five speed. What are your opinions about me spending thousands on this project? The body has 185k the motor has 90k timing belt and control arms all around need to be done. Should I spend thousands and lower the outback?

That's awesome man, it's so cool to talk to those of you who have been watching for a long time! Filming this build series has been so fun and nostalgic for me, so I think you guys are going to really enjoy the rest of it. And no, I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm a bad person to ask about spending too much on a project car... Haha. But I will say, for me my cars bring me a lot of joy, their a hobby and passion of mine so it's where I choose to spend my disposable income. So I think if you can afford to dump the money into the car, know you're not going to get most of that back if you ever sell, and it makes you happy then hell yeah, do it.

I'll throw a little in here, as I've had an 05 OBXT for around 10 years now. Biggest thing to keep in mind, is that it's essentially a legacy gt wagon with a lift. These cars handle so much better in the gt package. Think of it as removing the lift kit, instead of lowering it.

Where are you located? The underside of the car looks absolutely brand new :O Never would`ve thought a car from 2005 could be this rust-free
@avengednick
@avengednick 2 жыл бұрын
I’m in Seattle and the car has only ever been on WA and CA. It helps that the car has always been garaged and never seen snow. Plus I stopped daily driving it 3 years ago.

should have herculined the interior while it was gutted... or other spray on sound deadener that's out there...I would have just done the wheel wells black as it would blend w/the liners better and no one is going to see that area anyway...keep it as simple as possible on a project like this
@avengednick
@avengednick Жыл бұрын
All the doors have sound dampening material on them and I haven’t had any issue with cabin noise since doing that. And black would have looked good too, just love the paint matched for this project. If I was doing the full underside, I’d probably go black though like I did on my s-chassis’
