Leslie Marmon Silko, the first acclaimed American Indian woman novelist has produced a body of work which reflects the storytelling and traditions of the Laguna Pueblo in New Mexico. Ms. Silko is one to the most respected authors of the American Indian community. Her first novel, Ceremony, was a leading light in the now popular genre of Native American fiction. This groundbreaking book, and those that followed, effectively use the messages of native storytelling as applied to modern circumstances
