Thank you for the video. i bought the Short ratchet and Orange trim tool that you suggested on your links. The short ratchet helps a lot, but I find it easier to use a very small flat-head screw driver to remove the 2 clips from the bracket you show at about 0:54.
@FunWithGuns5 жыл бұрын
Make sure the air purge valve is at the top when you reinstall it. If you look at the clip around 2:15 and 2:45 it shows it in the top position (the little shiney hole in the thermostats lip). If it's not, it will not work bc it will be below the fluid level. Just my 2 cents. I'm not a mechanic but have heard this is important.

Question, I'm going to replace my thermostat on my 2014 civic but I replaced the coolant 20,000 miles ago 3 years ago. Is it ok to reuse the coolant that I drain out...or should I use new coolant?
@MrRangerZr111 ай бұрын
you can reuse, just use a paint/coffee filter when refilling to filter out any dirt that may fell in it while draining.

Hey man wondering if you can help me diagnose an issue with my 2013 civic. I have poor mpg ~20mpg city. I have noticed that my radiator fan does not turn on unless the A/C is on. The engine cold light also stays on when I start the car for about a minute or so. I have checked the spark plugs which are fine, no vacuum leak, no codes, no blown fuses (haven't checked relays though). Any ideas what could cause such a drastic drop in fuel economy?

Mine just came on and I took it to a mechanic and he showed me the computer and wrote down everything he was going to do to make that light go off. Thermostat and coolant/antifreeze was the only listed stuff I was paying for. (Both total cost $15 but he was charging me $80 I called a friend that fixes cars he said don’t pay that it’s simple enough to do yourself so here I am 😂)

@MrRangerZr12 жыл бұрын
If you can access to it without lifting then no need to raise the car
@privatename36212 жыл бұрын
People need to also know that most of the non-OEM thermostats for this car will NOT come with a new rubber gasket. Why? I have no idea. I don't know how smart it would be to reuse a 10-15+ year old rubber gasket after it has been exposed to that much head and hot coolant sitting tight against a very hot engine block. So its kind of a rip off. It cost me and additional $5 to buy it separately, and it was hard to find in stock. I drove around to 4 different auto parts stores and finally found one that carried a couple of them. That really blows my mind since this is supposed to be one of the most common problems on these cars and an easy DIY job. They carry so many different brands of thermostat but almost no gaskets. Who would want a new thermostat with no gasket?
@MrRangerZr12 жыл бұрын
It's for every aftermarket thermostat lol and yeah do not reuse the gasket.
