Ive just done it, 7 hours total for an amateur, I confirm its doable without removing the radiator fan assembly, but very hard to get the alternators in and out this way. Crucial tips not mentioned in the video: 1. remove black plastic pins from the bumper's top side, near to the both sides of the front radiator, it will make possible to tilt the radiators even more towards the front of the car. 2. Remove exhaust metal front shield (3 screws 10mm), move the shield to the side, without removing the o2 sensor. 3. Ask somebody to pull the radiators towards the cars' front while trying to maneuver the alternator, you need absolute maximum radiator movement possible (not sure what is the construction limit though, gotta feel it)

Hell yeah, it's not the easiest job for an amateur, and for that, i salute you! Thanks for mentioning these extra steps. i dont remove the exhaust shield, but i can see how it is helpful because, as you mentioned, it is a very tight fit, so tight i could not record while i removed/installed it.! But thanks for watching and commenting and cool hip hop uploads!

Great video! I'm planning to undertake it tomorrow. I'm pretty experienced and aiming for 2hrs or less, changing the alternator, an idler pulley, and the belt. I'll be sure to review this again and have it at the ready.

@stephendunham1013 nice! Let me know if how it goes! The first time may be tricky to squeeze out the alternator doing it this method, so some take off the radiator fans, but for me, I do it this way no problems

Awesome video format! unfortunately I’ve been trying to get out the alternator out for 3 hrs now I have the wood in there and it just seems impossible wish you could of shown us how you did it. I’m giving up on and I’m removing the fan assembly 😅 to get it out
@harborareatech3102 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! Yes it is a real tight fit and requires some finnessing make sure the bracket for the alternator is off and the dipstick is out the way as well.If you need a bit more flex on the radiator remove two clips on the bumper close to where the grill sits. That should give you a bit more flex. Unfortunately I couldn't record and remove the alternator at the same time. Hopes this helps and good luck to you!
@jhb92542 жыл бұрын
@@harborareatech310 ah maybe it’s the dipstick I just loosened it because I don’t know where to get a new gasket for it maybe that and the bumper clips or probably someone holding it back the radiator for me will do the trick…

Hey what is a service bolt & where do I get it?? Or do I just insert any bolt when I’m loosening the drive belt?
@harborareatech310 Жыл бұрын
Good question I use a 8mm or 10mm size bolt around 2-2.5in in length.
@mronemanband1 Жыл бұрын
you dont need rear atl bracket its overkill from toyota just like a intake manifold rear brackets the bracket is not for support it's mainly there to hold the wire harness.the upper and lower bolt hold the alternator in place the camrys and corollas have the same set up but no rear bracket ! and you dont have to unbolt horns / just unplug all your doing is pulling radiator support forward a few inches and use a 4x4 piece of wood if you want more room unbolt condensor and pull it forward and out of slots and pull up on radiator then push forward

Do we have to remove the whole battery instead of disconnecting the negative? Some videos show to disconnect battery not remove it.
@harborareatech3108 ай бұрын
0:01-0:18 says to disconnect OR remove the battery. In the case of the video, i removed it because i ended up replacing it, but you can get away with just disconnecting the negative battery terminal

How do you know if your alternator is bad on the Lexus es350 2013
@harborareatech310 Жыл бұрын
The most common thing you will notice is the battery light illuminated on the dash, and the alternator not "charging" the battery

@kylenardon9009 ай бұрын
I’ll add that your battery could be bad but if you pick up a multimeter you can rule out the battery by seeing if you get a reading between 13-15 with the car on vs 12.5 which is just the batteries resistance. Lots of videos on alternator checks.
