2006 Chevy HHR 2.2 LT. problem code p0 171

the 4 cylinder engine that he is poopooing is a multi timing chain Lotus/German racing engine design. the engine has such tight tolerances that if you hear a rattle at 285K, turn it off and put in a new tensioner and chain set. My HHR has over 380K, drives like a dream and is often underestimated at the signals. My street car racing days just seem to raise up and say 'hello!"

where I live, we call them wrecking or salvage yards. nothing more enjoyable than walking the broken glass and oil soaked terrain looking at peoples mistakes and booboos. I found that the aftermarket parts fit a wide parameter of vehicle applications and the actual factory GM parts are made to fit exact vehicles and operational systems. many problems are created by installing crappy parts made in china. I try to install GM pieces and will purchase used over new if they are OEM numbers on the components and they test out. there are always things that can cause other issues and usually it was unqualified mechanics instead of precision technicians.

We are actually dealing with this same exact problem now on our 2011 HHR. For a temporary fix we have removed the hose and used gorilla super glue to seal the torn gap and some electrical tape wrapped around the full hose and nozzle to ensure the nozzle stays in place. We also struggled to find this hose locally so we ordered one online for 90 bucks plus shipping, should receive it next weekend. It's costing us 111 bucks to replace it with a new one (we do not have a junk yard near us). Symptoms for us have been rough idling and jerking when initially starting to drive. But once the car is going at speed it's smooth. The way this is designed is stupid and inconvenient.

yes it can cause them issues you would sometimes here a hissing sound coming from that hose or may not mine did not have sound i just search for the leak. yes these hoses are hard to find

Where was this hose located?

It's the hose that connects to the throttle body. It runs to the crankcase

my 2006 had been running great - even getting as high as 35mpg on the highway. then the other day it decided to not want to run - p0171 too lean - meaning too much air, not enough gas. Tore things apart looking for vacuum leaks. Going to inspect that part a bit closer tomorrow to see if there's cracks/holes. I didn't see any yesterday, but now kinda hoping there is one as my fear of a bad fuel filter/fuel pump is the other most likely possibility with my car's history. Of course, now from a dozen start attempts, the battery is now too weak to turn the motor over.

Having almost same issue, bank 1 lean, cylinder misfire but all coils and plugs are new as is the MAF, so checking for vacuum leaks tomorrow, but my issue is 2 to 3k idle rpm speed after moving car even after warming it up. P0171, ugh getting tired chasing down this rabbit hole..... 😏😒😒😒

P0171 code can be caused by multiple things. One of them has a hole in my throttle body hose in PCV hose, but then the code did not go away after replacing it. So I heard a hissing noise coming from the driver side firewall so I investigate and found out the brake booster check file had a crack in it. If you hear any hissing coming from your motor when the car is running I would check that valve cuz once I replace that which only cost like five bucks, the code finally went away and no more issues. That code is usually caused by a vacuum leak at least in my experience with my vehicle it was

Got the same problem right know but the car starts fine, shifts fine, doesn't hesitate getting up too speed so I might check the hose where the throttle body is tomorrow. Worst case is that theirs a hole in the same spot.

Always be sure if there is a whole in it. Always cut it to be the same length because if it's too long as well and you try to run the car for a while, you might bust the hose but it could be that small house that runs to the top of the crankcase or it could be the actual throttle body hose

Because that code pops up doesn't always mean that can be the problem 1. Vacuum leak 2. Replace fuel filter or fuel pump 3. Replace both for one oxygen sensor 4. Mass flow air sensor 5. Check or replace fuel pressure sensor 0 These are the top priorities to check for with this code

Will p0717 cause rough idle on red light

The purpose of the automatic transmission is to match the engine's optimum power and torque characteristics to the driver's desired rate of acceleration and speed by auto-selecting different gear ratios or 'speeds' to power the wheels. Code P0717 is triggered when the transmission's Input Speed Sensor isn't providing a signal. This is a critical problem because with out this signal, the Transmission Contorl Module or TCM can't properly shift the vehicle from gear to gear as the vehicle needs to change speed and rates of acceleration.
