Tip, just cut the lines close to the modulated and use a socket on the fittings. Easy peasy. Change them one by one

You are generous in taking the time, when you are working so hard, to show other people how to you did it. Thank you sooooo much!

Great vid thanks. Copper is easiest bending The Stabilitrack is worse. I got a estimate of $1300 up to $1500. Stabilitrak In rear there are 2 lines from the abs module. I managed to remove the splitter rear upper bracket that connects the flex hose to the lines. 1/4 lines for stabilitrack.(my 05 yukon xl) Look for the JL4 code in the glove box. Owners manual forgot to include this very important item. Very rare fittings are 5/16. I used the old ones with copper and flairing tool

Just wanted to say thanks for the video & info! Even tho this video has some age on it, it came in extremely handy as my 04 Tahoe blew one of the rear lines & these videos really helped !

Pending lawsuit on GM rusty brake lines. American trans dept droped the ball 50 years ago for not demanding copper or stainless. People died do to this fault.

Could never figure out why they put the pump all the way down there... I had to do lines in an 09 silverado and an 05 and the abs pump is in the same stupid ass location. Brake fluid be doing a whole loop just to get the the front wheels. And there’s only one line going to the back, they could have made it so much simpler by just putting it in the engine bay and have a single line running down the frame. Also the lines always get rusty af down there.

I always just cut the old line off right next to nut on the line. Then I use a socket to unscrew the old nut. This way it's easy to do because the line is junk I don't have to use a wrench like you did. Shops will not replace one one they will do them all because they will be reliable if you die if break lines break after they worked on it they say. So anyone doing this use a socket on them after cutting or breaking the old rusted line off it makes it way easier.

Good video... but Could you just cut them off and use a socket and a wrench?
@amechanicfirefighterandhis79104 жыл бұрын
You most definitely can cut them . I use line wrenches to install also. Sometimes if you only need to remove one line ,then line wrench works great.

I just did my lines, on my 06 Silverado 1500 4x4. It took help from my wife, I did all the lines. I'm just glad it's over. Now my question is, do you know about that ABS module automatic bleeding from a OTC machine that plugs into the OBD2 port?
@infl3 жыл бұрын
Scanners that do the abs auto bleed are always expensive. I bought a $250 one from auto zone (cheapest one i could find available in stores) and that piece of junk said “auto bleed not available for this vehicle”. So i just bled them normally and it worked fine. I was in some mud one day, hit the brakes and the abs kicked in. I could tell it shot air into my lines (knew that would happen) so i just kept a 14mm wrench with me and cracked the lines and bled it in the field.
@bryanball89093 жыл бұрын
@@infl hopefully not in the mud.

@@bryanball8909 I drove it into some grass, but the whole truck was caked underneath so i got my fair share of mud anyway

I only see one brake line that went bad, but how come it basically makes none of my breaks work?
@J-unit8411 ай бұрын
Air they 1/4" from abs module back. Then 3/16?
@geopowless34523 жыл бұрын
If you're not gonna use the same line that you're taking off why use a stubby wrench or crows foot take a chisel and a hammer cut the line flat against the fitting And use a ratcheting wrench stubby to get it out with ease
@awesomefish1002 жыл бұрын
What size line wrench was required? Also any issues bleeding system? I’m reading that you need a scan tool to bleed the abs module.
@2Jeezuzisreal4 жыл бұрын
I thought that was the ABS. Not modulator valve as you say.
@amechanicfirefighterandhis79104 жыл бұрын
Yes it is ABS also called Active brake control module valve. I called it the Active brake control module or modulator for short. I went over this information in my part 1 video about midway through. I tried to pass along the information about what engine you have in your vehicle and if it has a JL4 code in the glove box. This determines if you have active brake control for stabilatrac. I also did not know about this until buying brake lines. Just trying to pass along some information. Thank you for the feedback.

I don't know how you managed to do this with a camera, I don't think I will be able to do it with just a wrench, but many thanks to you for giving me the hope that I might be able to do it when the weather gets a bit warmer (25 Now)

How you lift the body
@amechanicfirefighterandhis79104 жыл бұрын
I have 3 videos for the Tahoe brake job . I loosened the body mount bolts and removed all of the bolts on the drivers side. I have step bars on my tahoe. I used a jack under the step bar to lift the body up. It will go up just a couple inches but its enough to get to the lines and clamps

What is the box called at 2:19, where the lines connect? I have a stripped line leaking and think I need to replace the box, maybe not the lines.

@Masterchief43215 жыл бұрын
Are all the break lines like that ?? Right rear then left rear on the same spot as ur diagram u drew ... cuz I have a 2012 Dodge Charger and can’t figure out which line is which to order
@amechanicfirefighterandhis79105 жыл бұрын
I do not know about the charger lines. The block my lines went to is the active brake control system. I don't believe the dodge would have the same setup as chevy. My guess would be if you have a rear brake line leaking then order a set of rear brake line replacement lines. Sorry I cannot specify the line layout of your car. What is wrong with your car ?

How long are the 2 rear lines for a 05 yukon xl full length ? Theres no web info and i called 4 parts stores they have no clue or the fittings at the ABS.
@amechanicfirefighterandhis79104 жыл бұрын
I am wanting to know if you are trying to replace a single line . Bending, flaring and installing the fittings on the line. I am not sure about sizes. I did look up your vehicle on summit racing. Around $90 or so for premade stainless lines. The lines are easy to straighten out and install.
@2Jeezuzisreal4 жыл бұрын
@@amechanicfirefighterandhis7910 Yes 2 lines. Just like your video shows. 05 yukon xl. I decided to reUse the 2 fittings at the ABS module and bend and flair lines.

@@2Jeezuzisreal do you mean where the lines connect in the ABS valve or which wheel it goes to?

Where the lines go into the abs just cut them and it’ll be easier to take the nuts off. Also why not leave the majority of the old lines and just run new lines and secure them 😊
