I've had my GXP for around 10 years. My daily driver use to be a 68 Mustang but then I needed to get a 4 door for the kids so I did. Then I wanted a 4 door with some power so I got my GXP. I wanted a monte carlo SS because I use to have a 95 monte Z34, but I needed a little more room. Now that my kids are grown I'm probably gonna pass my GXP to my oldest and get myself a 2014 Mustang GT. why? because the 14 GT reminds me of a 68 Mustang Shelby. Love my GXP though.

Cruisin Compton I just got my Pontiac Grand Prix GXP , I see you said you had yours now for 10 years , do you have any advice for me for as keeping up with the car I’m trying to have my car last for 10 years to, what type of gas you used over the 10 years and stuff like that????

​@@mrclay8461 First thing I would do is get a transmission cooler. I went with a low pressure drop cooler from tru-cool. Luckily my GXP was still under warranty when the transmission went out, after the last time I had issues and got it back from the dealer which was a long time ago I added a cooler (I then replaced that cooler with the tru-cool). I use to drive long distances for work every day and my temps would get up to the 220's, sometimes 230's even if I was driving like a grandma. After installing a cooler they went way down and with the tru-cool it never goes over 190's. After that I also had issues with the lifters twice since I've had the car. I read it's because of the AFM/DOD. So I bought a Range Technology AFM disabler (works for LS4's). Aside from that just do the regular maintenance and learn to do repairs yourself if you can. I always use 91 (what they have around where I live) gas and full synthetic 5w-30. If you have a lkqpickyourpart or other yard around you set it up to let you know when 04-08 grand prix's come in. I got very good deals on inferno hoods, LED taillights and other stuff I needed.

@@T33Baby right know I have all the mods your boy got except work on the trans and the engine. My car only has 80k so I'm driving it till the wheels fall off, lol. Other than the intake and the 3" w/ super 10 racing floormaster mufflers, I went on and got the diablo tuner that disables the active fuel management system. Planning to get the msd coil packs, and once the trans goes out do a stage 2 and go to my performance shop and do the Active delete, and bore and stroke the engine and add a bigger cam. Possibly go twin turbo as I seen videos of ( camed GXP'S and Turbo GXP'S) but I'm def keepin' my shit lol.

the Impala/Monte has shorter gearing than the GXP, that explains that extra uump you feel in your SS vs the GXP. Shorter gearing= better acceleration, a SS would edge an GXP in a race.
