Have you done the camshaft magnet on the right side? If so can it be done without removing steering container for slk?

Is it a better idea to drain all the coolant out from the radiator below if I'm going to change the thermostat and the oil filter and cooler gaskets? I've heard of complaints about the coolant getting onto the pulleys and causing the belt/pulley system to squeak afterwards. I don't have a lift at home so it makes it hard to access the drain plug, but my car is coming up on 11 years and I know the coolant should be changed at 15 years or 250,000KMs. Also, you don't have to remove the power steering pump to gain access to the entire oil filter housing correct? Just wondering, as I've seen other DIYers remove the power steering pump when only replace the oil cooler gasket. Thanks!

You can drain the coolant, however I did not due to not much being lost when doing this job. But you are correct about the belt squeaking afterwards if there is coolant on the belt. I tend to pour water over it and blow everything off with an air gun. But I did not have to remove the power steering pump when replacing the oil cooler gasket. FYI, removing the power steering pump can be a PITA, due to one of the torx being on the rear side of the pump.

@@TexThaiAuto Thanks! Also, is it necessary to change the oil filter when doing this job? I just changed my oil recently and am not due for a change for another 5,000 miles.

If you remove the filter before cleaning the housing, then you will be fine.

You didn't have to loosen the secondary air pump at all to get to the top bolt on the thermostat?

No I believed I may have used a swivel.

Good job but I usually clean up my parts I put back. And the area around it.

Thanks! Also that’s a very good habit to have- I usually clean the area after I finish making the video.
