I've been on TRD lowering Springs and KYB struts which are an OEM replacement. The way these coilovers came with 10k/5k spring rates was terrible. I have received some replacement 4k/3k springs that I will soon install and see how much better it rides. I'll be doing a follow up video with those springs installed.

@@jimsgaragetoys sounds good. I don’t want a bunch of drop. I already replaced the garbage Monroe for OEM KYBs, not the b line. I’m going with H&R because they have 2 different spring setups (race and street). I have other things potentially planned for the front end. So I’m not sure if I’m going with Echo or Yaris struts yet.

@@LujinCustom You sound similar to what I want. I like the TRD springs for that reason. I and curious though what the Maxpeedingrods coilovers are like with the softer springs. Let me know how you like the H&R springs. I had a set of those on my old 94 Corolla and I liked them a lot.

Interesting. It really surprised me at how difficult the RF was. I have BC coilovers on my Corolla and they were very easy to adjust.

They were too stiff for me with the spring that came with them so I swapped my KYB struts and TRD springs back on until they send me the softer springs that I requested. Once those arrive I'll install them back and go from there. If you are very low and want very little suspension travel these may work out well for you. If you want a decent ride then see if you can order them with softer spring rates.

How did the coilovers ride at all the way soft setting on all four

Pro tip: put manual transmission in gear to snug up the lug nuts. Wait till the car is on the ground to torque them.

I snug them down by just using my feet to hold the tire snug. I've never been a fan of leaving it in gear and tightening them. I get them snug this way and lower the tire to contact the ground and torque them at that point.

I recently bought a set of those white TRD springs brand-new in the original box and wanted to know how they ride and the amount of drop you get from them. I currently have Megan Orange springs and new KYB shocks around and the ride is absolutely horrible. I am also running a 15x8 +20 wheels and 195-60 tires .... What advice would you have for a better ride. 🙏

I've been trying to find that magic too. The ride is still firm with the TRD springs but not unbearable. With these coilovers is was horrible. They did ship me much softer springs but I just haven't had a chance to get them install yet. Hopefully this spring or summer. I installed new KYB struts with the springs when I installed them. I wanted to get new 205/50R16 tires since I had a set of wheels I could use but when I just replaced the tires I stayed with 195/60R15 tires for a better ride. I did buy Vredestein HiTrac tires since they said the ride was excellent so I'll see how they do as I test them out over the coming months.

@@livinglargeandfree8322 Thanks for the tip. I've never been a huge Megan fan. I did notice a big improvement on my new tires. I bought some Vredestein HiTrac 195/60R15 tires and the ride is much improved and they quiet too.

Make sure that you order them with the spring rates that you desire. The standard spring rates were way too stiff for me.

I asked them about it and they are sending me some softer springs so I have decent ride quality. I would like to keep my spine in one piece.

Currently I'm running 15x7 +35mm with 195/60R15 tires. I'll be swapping some 205/50R16 tires on 16x7 wheels soon.

I was asked to try them out and do a review. The stock spring rates were terrible and so hard. I did get some softer ones form Tham that I need to install and try out. I have some BC coilovers on my 2009 Corolla S Turbo 5MT and I love those coilovers.

I have spoken to many people that like them and had good luck with them so I'm looking forward to seeing how they do with springs that should provide a decent ride. When you did this, did it throw off the alignment at all? I just did one, and it seems like the alignment is way off now.

When you install coilovers you will always need to have it aligned after the install. Even after installing the lowering springs you should have the alignment checked.

Hi. I am trying to install this set; I am confused about how to match the oem height from the original struts to the new ones. Can you tell me what the distance between the two locking bolts are that you set the maxspeedingrods to? I hope that this is a clear question.

I wish I could but right now I don't have them installed. I took them off since the spring rates that came with mine were so stiff. They sent me some new springs that should ride much better but I just haven't had the time to get them installed. This past summer was so hot that I felt like I have much less garage time than I wanted. You should be able to adjust the height easily enough with the tube and single locking nut, then just use the 2nd locking nut to lock them together. I'll do an update video on how to swap the springs and install them again.

So I just put these same coilovers in my car,but I’m confused on how to lower the rear? I have the bolts threaded all the way down on the springs but do I need to adjust the bolt on the shock too?

Do you have the spacers installed as I did? If so, others said to remove them to get the car lower. To raise it you will them use the threaded adjustment. I installed them and wanted to see what the lowest setting would be with them, it wasn't much different from my TRD lowering springs. Try removing them and see how that goes. It's too bad that there are no real instructions that come with the coilovers.

@@jimsgaragetoys yeah i do have the spacers in, it was just super difficult for me to install them because it was my first time. but you would think that they would lower a considerable amount in the rear since the fronts lower quite a bit? i really wish they had instructions too that would save so much time

@@ItsmeSUGSNOVEMBER Take out the spacers and adjust from there, I think you'll have more success. Also disconnect both rear shocks at the same time and it's much easier to install or remove the springs and spacers. With the spacers out the springs will be pretty simple to move in and out.

Without the spacers they will be very low. I don't like the slammed look so I used them. I've seen pics of others with them on and they were very, very low.

@@fernandozaragoza8385 If you look at the table when the video starts they are the adjustable spacers sitting right in front of the rear springs. The people that want the car as low as possible have told me they didn't use that piece but I did as I didn't want it slammed.

I actually bought them from a guy that had them brand new in the box. When I was looking at buying my xB I drive his but he wanted more than what I wanted to spend., After I bought mine I still had his number. He forgot to mention the TRD springs to the buyer so he sold them to me for only $50. I lucked out on that deal.

you installed the rear adjustable purchs for the coil wrong. you un bolt the silver plate that goes under the mounting point and the golds perch on top then re bolt.

Thanks for the tip. There were no directions of what way it went together. I'm waiting on softer springs right now as the springs they come with ride like bricks. I've removed them and when the softer springs arrive I'll correct that. They are very different from the BC coilovers that I've installed on other cars.

i had it out w a vendor aswell i installed these on my 05 it was horrible!! its been parked in my drive way going on 2 months. its definitely a brick w no shock absorption to bouncy

@@hondarsr505 They sent me new springs with the spring rates I wanted but only shipped me one front and one rear spring! I'm not sure who thought that would help me but when I get the other 2 I think it will be much better. Those 10kg front and 5kg rear springs are terrible for such a small car unless you are tracking it or can't have the suspension move at all due to your stance.

hey jim, so update... drove two times thought they had to settle.. ride is worse after driving 2 times less than 30 min the front blew out and are leaking fluid...waste of time and money.

@@hondarsr505 Good to know. I just received the additional springs that are softer fro a better ride. I ordered 4k/3k for the F/R vs the 10k/5k that came with them. I'll get those installed when I have a warmer day. I'm curious to see the difference compared to my BC coilovers that I have on my 2009 Corolla S Turbo. I love those and they've been great for 7 years now. If that strut blew out I would have them replace it and ask about softer springs like I did. I'll update when Get them installed because I hated the concrete ride of the stiff springs that came with them.

Yes, I believe so. When I first installed them I had them about 1" lower than stock which is the same height as my TRD springs. There was room to go up from there and plenty of room to drop it.

It didn't change much at all. It's way too stiff for me so they are looking at offering some spring rates that will provide a better ride. If you are slamming the car and need very good control of the suspension so it doesn't hit your tires due to the stance these will work great as they come.

@@charlielopez9222 If you want a small drop then lowering springs could be a better choice. Coilovers will always provide the most flexibility since the ride height can be adjusted to exactly what you want. If the springs are the correct spring rate for the ride you want they will always be the preferred choice. In this case I the spring rate is much too stiff for the ride I want.

@@charlielopez9222 I never know what people know, I was just trying to answer what you were saying. I've never liked the slammed look as it makes it hard to drive the car fast in the mountains and canyons but I like coilovers because of the ability to dial in the ride and height. When I installed coilovers on my 2009 Corolla S Turbo 5MT the ride height was very similar to when I had Eibach springs on it but being able to dial in the bumpers made a huge difference.

Well there are good coilovers and bad coilovers just like any other part. I love the BC coilovers on my 2009 Corolla Turbo.
